Job Title: Instrumentation & Control Systems Engineer
Location: Port Harcourt, Rivers
Employment Type: Full-time
Responsibilities
Design and specify instrumentation and control systems in compliance with IEC, API, and industry standards
Develop and review P&IDs, logic diagrams, and instrument loop diagrams
Program, configure, and troubleshoot PLC, DCS, and SCADA systems
Select, integrate, and calibrate sensors, transmitters, and control devices (pressure, temperature, flow, level)
Oversee installation, commissioning, and system acceptance testing
Conduct preventive maintenance, inspections, and reliability improvement initiatives
Troubleshoot and resolve instrumentation and control faults to minimize downtime
Manage system upgrades, modifications, and performance optimization projects
Implement advanced process control strategies to enhance productivity and efficiency
Integrate and validate Safety Instrumented Systems (SIS) in compliance with SIL requirements
Participate in HAZOP studies, risk assessments, and safety compliance reviews
Coordinate with engineering, procurement, and construction teams to ensure project alignment
Monitor project progress, resolve technical issues, and maintain schedule adherence
Prepare engineering documentation, reports, technical manuals, and compliance records
Support audits, inspections, and regulatory approval processes.
Requirements
Bachelor’s Degree in Instrumentation, Electrical / Electronic Engineering, or related field
Certification in Instrumentation & Control (e.g., ISA, TÜV) is an advantage
Minimum of 10 years’ instrumentation and control engineering experience in oil & gas (upstream preferred)
Proven expertise with DCS, PLC, and SCADA systems, commissioning, troubleshooting, and optimization
Strong knowledge of process instrumentation, sensors, actuators, and industrial communication protocols (HART, MODBUS, Fieldbus)
Excellent troubleshooting, calibration, and safety systems implementation skills
Proficient in project planning, execution, and technical documentation
Analytical, detail-oriented, safety-conscious, adaptable, and collaborative.
