Job Title: Regional Project Manager
Locations: Port Harcourt - Rivers,
Lagos, Kano, Onitsha- Anambra and Abuja
Job Summary
- The Regional Project Manager is responsible for the end-to-end
planning, execution, and delivery of renewable energy projects (solar
installations, mini-grids, inverter/battery systems, and related
infrastructure) across an assigned region.
- The role ensures projects are delivered on time, within budget, and
to the required quality and safety standards, while coordinating closely
with Regional Managers, Technical Managers, and City Managers within the
region.
- The Regional Project Manager acts as the central coordinator for all
active renewable energy projects within the region, from project
initiation through to commissioning and handover.
- The role bridges business development, technical delivery, and
client relationship management, ensuring that Absen's project commitments
are met consistently across all cities/locations in the region.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan, schedule, and oversee the execution of all renewable energy
projects within the assigned region, from mobilization to commissioning.
- Develop and manage project budgets, timelines, and resource plans,
and track performance against these throughout project execution.
- Coordinate with Technical Managers to ensure system designs,
installations, and quality control meet Absen's engineering and safety
standards.
- Liaise with City Managers to align local execution capacity
(manpower, logistics, materials) with the regional project pipeline.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for institutional, corporate,
and government clients on project status, milestones, and issue resolution
within the region.
- Identify and mitigate project risks (supply chain delays, site
access issues, weather, permitting) proactively across all sites.
- Manage relationships with third-party contractors, vendors, and
logistics partners engaged on regional projects.
- Prepare and present regular project status reports, budget
reconciliations, and post-project reviews to Head Office/Executive
Management.
- Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental (HSE)
standards on all project sites within the region.
- Support the regional business development team in scoping and
costing new project opportunities.
- Conduct site visits and inspections across the region to monitor
progress and quality of ongoing installations.
- Drive continuous improvement of project delivery processes based on
lessons learned from completed projects.
Requirements
Education
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Electrical/Electronics,
Mechanical, Renewable Energy), Project Management, or a related field.
- A professional project management certification (PMP, PRINCE2, or
equivalent) is an advantage.
Experience
- 5–7 years' experience in project management, with at least 2–3 years
specifically in renewable energy, solar, or power infrastructure projects.
- Demonstrable experience managing multiple concurrent projects across
different locations.
- Experience working with or managing regional teams and multiple
stakeholders is required.
- Must be willing to travel extensively within the assigned region.
- Valid driver's license required.
- Must reside in or be willing to relocate to the regional
headquarters location.
- Sound understanding of the renewable energy regulatory environment
in Nigeria is an advantage.
Required Skills:
- Strong project management skills (planning, scheduling, budgeting,
risk management).
- Working knowledge of solar PV systems, inverters, battery storage,
and mini-grid infrastructure.
- Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills, across
technical and non-technical audiences.
- Proficiency with project management tools/software (e.g. MS Project,
Trello, Asana, or similar) and MS Office/Excel.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Leadership and team coordination skills across a dispersed,
multi-city team.
- Negotiation skills for contractor and vendor management.
Remuneration
- Salary: N100,000 - N500,000 per month.
- Competitive salary commensurate with experience, to be determined by
HR/Finance in line with Absen's salary structure.
