Job Title: Head, Database Administration

Description
Provide
strategic leadership and oversight for the management, operations, and
evolution of the organization’s Data Centre infrastructure.
- Ensure optimal performance, availability, security, and efficiency
of all Data Centre systems and services.
- Align Data Centre strategy with organizational business goals and
regulatory requirements.
Duties &
Responsibilities
Strategic
Leadership & Planning:
- Define and implement the Data Centre strategy and roadmap.
- Drive innovation in infrastructure modernization (cloud, hybrid
models, virtualization).
- Develop business continuity and disaster recovery strategies for
critical IT systems.
- Oversee Data Centre budgeting, vendor management, and resource
planning.
Operations
Management:
- Ensure 24/7 availability, performance, and uptime of Data Centre
infrastructure.
- Manage physical and virtual server environments, storage, backups,
and environmental controls (power, cooling).
- Monitor capacity, health, and utilization trends to ensure proactive
scalability.
- Governance, Compliance & Security:
- Ensure compliance with industry standards (ISO 27001, Uptime
Institute Tiers, PCI-DSS, etc.).
- Implement and audit Data Centre security policies, access controls,
and environmental safeguards.
- Coordinate risk assessments, audits, and mitigation plans.
Team
& Vendor Leadership:
- Lead and develop a high-performing Data Centre team (managers,
engineers, technicians).
- Collaborate with IT and business leaders on project delivery,
infrastructure needs, and escalations.
- Manage third-party vendors and service providers for maintenance,
support, and upgrades.
Job Requirements
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a
related field.
- Master’s degree or MBA is an added advantage.
Others:
- Relevant certifications (e.g., CDCP, CDCS, ITIL, PMP, CISSP,
AWS/Azure certifications).
Experience:
- Minimum of 9 years of IT infrastructure experience with at least 5
years in a leadership role.
- Proven experience managing large-scale Data Centres, hybrid
infrastructure, and high-availability systems.
