Job Title: Facility Manager

Description
- As
part of our commitment to maintaining a safe, secure, functional and
inspiring learning environment, we are seeking an experienced, proactive
and highly competent Facilities Head to join our team.
- The
Facilities Head will be responsible for providing leadership and oversight
for the school's physical infrastructure, facilities, maintenance
operations, utilities and service providers.
- The
successful candidate will play a critical role in ensuring that the
school's environment consistently meets high standards of safety,
cleanliness, functionality and operational readiness.
Key
Responsibilities
The
successful candidate will be responsible for:
- Providing
overall leadership and supervision for the school's facilities and
maintenance operations.
- Developing
and implementing preventive and corrective maintenance plans for the
school's buildings, infrastructure, equipment and installations.
- Conducting
regular inspections of classrooms, offices, toilets, playgrounds, outdoor
spaces, utility areas and other school facilities.
- Identifying
maintenance requirements, potential hazards and infrastructure risks and
ensuring timely resolution.
- Coordinating
repairs, maintenance and servicing of electrical, plumbing, mechanical and
other facility systems.
- Developing
and maintaining a preventive maintenance schedule to minimise equipment
failure and operational disruptions.
- Supervising
maintenance personnel, cleaners, technicians and other facilities related
staff as assigned.
- Managing
relationships with contractors, vendors and external service providers.
- Monitoring
the quality, cost and timely completion of work carried out by contractors
and service providers.
- Maintaining
accurate records of maintenance activities, repairs, equipment servicing
and contractor performance.
- Overseeing
the effective management of essential utilities, including electricity,
water and backup power systems.
- Monitoring
the use of school resources and identifying opportunities to reduce
wastage and improve efficiency.
- Supporting
the development and monitoring of facilities related budgets and
expenditure.
- Ensuring
that appropriate equipment, tools, materials and spare parts are available
for maintenance activities.
- Supporting
the procurement and proper management of facilities related supplies and
equipment.
- Ensuring
that facilities meet relevant health, safety and environmental
requirements.
- Working
closely with Management to identify and implement improvements to the
school's physical environment.
- Supporting
emergency preparedness and ensuring that relevant facility systems are
ready to respond appropriately during emergencies.
- Supporting
school events, activities and programmes by ensuring that venues,
equipment and facilities are adequately prepared.
- Developing
and implementing appropriate procedures for the proper use, care and
maintenance of school facilities.
- Preparing
regular reports on facility conditions, maintenance requirements,
completed work and outstanding issues.
- Carrying
out any other reasonable duties assigned by Management.
Qualifications
and Experience
Candidates
must meet the following requirements:
- A
Bachelor's Degree from a reputable A list university with a minimum of
Second Class Upper Division (2:1) in Facilities Management, Estate
Management, Engineering, Building Technology, Quantity Surveying,
Environmental Management or a related discipline.
- A
minimum of 5 years' relevant experience in facilities management, property
management, maintenance operations or a similar role.
- Previous
experience in a reputable school, educational institution, corporate
organisation, residential estate, hospitality organisation or similar
structured environment will be an added advantage.
- Demonstrable
experience in managing preventive and corrective maintenance programmes.
- Experience
supervising technical personnel, contractors and external service
providers.
- Good
understanding of building maintenance, electrical systems, plumbing,
utilities and general infrastructure.
- Experience
in budget monitoring, cost control and vendor management.
- Strong
organisational, planning and problem solving skills.
- Ability
to manage multiple priorities and respond effectively to urgent
operational issues.
- Good
knowledge of health, safety and environmental practices.
- Proficiency
in Microsoft Office and facility related reporting tools.
