Job Description


  • We are seeking a highly qualified Quality, Health, Safety, and Environment (QHSE) Coordinator to join our team.

  • As a QHSE Coordinator, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the safety and well-being of our employees and the protection of the environment.

  • You will also be responsible for ensuring the quality of site installation is consistent with the company’s policy requirements, national and international standards, and client specifications.

Main Responsibilities

  • Enforce HSQE policies, procedures, PPE, Permit to Work system (PTW), and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.

  • Ensure correct documentation of incidents, accidents, and near-misses.

  • Develop, review, and implement safety policies and procedures.

  • Conduct regular safety inspections and audits.

  • Provide HSE training and awareness programs.

  • Investigate incidents and accidents, and recommend preventive measures.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to promote a culture of safety.

  • Ensure compliance with all applicable regulatory requirements.

  • Provide legislative and regulatory advice to the company’s management team on all HSEQ matters.

  • Maintain quality accreditations for ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 45001, and ISO 18001, ensuring periodic audits are scheduled for ongoing compliance.

  • Liaise with registration bodies, customers, and suppliers to resolve HSEQ-related issues.

  • Implement and enforce an internal HSEQ audit schedule to ensure all group offices comply with quality accreditation requirements.

  • Maintain the management system and identify/implement initiatives for improvement—including all procedures, processes, safe systems of work, and support on risk assessments and method statements.

  • Coordinate QHSE tender preparation for bidding processes.

  • Support area offices during third-party HSEQ audits.

  • Ensure all offices operate with a standardized approach to quality standards and service delivery as defined by senior management.

  • Establish minimum HSEQ qualification standards for area office representatives, and manage training requirements accordingly.

  • Take overall responsibility and authority for all incident and accident investigations.

  • Advise the group on legislative and regulatory updates, ensuring QMS documentation is kept current.

  • Provide client support on QHSE matters and audits.

  • Advise, guide, support, promote awareness, and coach personnel in the implementation of the company’s policies and procedures.

  • Perform any other relevant duties as may be assigned from time to time.

Qualifications / Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related field.

  • Minimum of 7 - 10 years proven experience in a Safety and Quality management role within the manufacturing, construction, and/or oil and gas industries.

  • Professional membership such as COREN or MNSE will be an added advantage.

  • A successful track record of working with HSE auditors and professional bodies.

  • Experience in risk management and crisis management.

  • Must have auditor qualifications and experience in ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 45001, and ISO 18001.

  • Professional certifications in HSE (e.g., GHSE, NEBOSH, OSHA) are required.

  • Work experience in offshore environments is highly desirable.

  • Should reside in Port Harcourt or be willing to relocate.
