Clinical Officer
Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) is an international, humanitarian, non-governmental organisation providing assistance to people in need as a result of natural and man-made disasters, irrespective of race, religion, ideology or politics.
Function: Clinical Officer with Anaesthetist Skills
Location: AGOK / South Sudan
Duration: 6 months
Scope of responsibilities:
- To provide
medical consultation to all in- and outpatients according to MSF protocols
- Ensure and
organize medical activities for patients and/or a population in accordance
to the context, to MSF protocols and to universal hygiene standards taking
into consideration quality and continuity of care
- Ensure
supervision and training of the paramedical team
- To respect and
promote the universal hygiene standards
- Specific
Activities
- In the absence
of the mission anesthetists, support the OT team by providing anesthesia
to concerned patients needing to undergo any kind of operation
- Prescribe
relevant treatment and care according to MSF guidelines and protocols,
IPD,ITFC,OPD,TB,MC
- Explain the
treatment to the patient and the nursing team
- Keep informed
the patient and his family about any development.
- Collaborate with
nurses and nurse assistants and team supervisor in indicating the needs in
medical equipment and drugs.
- Able to perform
other duties as situation requires, i.e. anesthesia, TB and HIV counseling
and care
- Willing to work
in unstable context
Recruitment
criteria:
Education:
- Clinical Officer
Diploma
- Anaesthesia
certificate from recognised medical collage
Experience:
- 1 year
experience in the area of humanitarian Organization is a Plus
- 1 Year
experience in a busy Hospital
- At least 1 year
experience in the anaesthesia department in the hospital
Languages:
- English (fluent
written and spoken) Arabic is an added advantage
Personal
qualities:
- Ability to
manage a team, good communication skills, negotiating and organisational
skills, flexibility, resourcefulness, ability to work in a
multi-disciplinary and multi-cultural environment, pro-active attitude,
open-mindedness.
- Able to train
and coach, diplomatic.
