The Group is looking for highly motivated, qualified, experienced and reputable team players to fill the following positions:

 

Mechanical Engineer
 
Key Responsibilities
  • Carry out plant corrective, preventive and scheduled maintenance,
  • Effective daily reporting of all machinery technical performance status,
  • Identify and analyse maintenance deficiencies encountered,
  • Management of press spare parts stock movement and re-ordering level within the lead time,
  • Advising and guiding plant users on health and safety operation procedures,
  • Provide leadership to plant technical staff.
Qualifications & Experience
  • BSc. in Mechanical or Plant Engineering.
  • Good knowledge of plant machines and computer based industrial automation.
  • Good communication and leadership skills.
  • Good team player.
  • Ability to make quick decisions and to improvise if necessary.
  • Ability and energy to work during odd hours.
  • Minimum 3 years working experience in a busy Industrial Plant set up.

AMC & Electrical Technician
 
Key Responsibilities
  • Repair and maintenance of Air-Conditioning installations
  • Analyzing and rectifying AC & electrical technical faults
  • Utilize knowledge of AMC & Electrical systems to install, test and maintain Air conditioning facilities
  • Maintaining specialist AC equipment and cooling equipment at the SGL offices and transmission stations
  • Identifying and implementing alternative ways of meeting requirements to cover equipment failures with minimum loss of service
  • Investigating new technologies and equipments
  • Interpreting instructions and requests from others working in administration
Qualifications & Experience
  • Diploma and above in refrigeration and Air-conditioning engineering
  • Minimum 4 years working experience preferably in a busy industrial plant
  • Ability to work and communicate well with the rest of the team
  • Can work for long, odd and Shift hours and sometimes away from normal working station.

Studio Maintenance Technician

Key Responsibilities
  • Repair Broadcast Technology Systems
  • Utilize knowledge of analog and digital systems to install, test and maintain technical facilities
  • Maintaining Specialist equipment for Audio, Video, Broadcast and Interactive Media
  • Analyzing and rectifying technical faults
  • Identifying and implementing alternative ways of meeting requirements to cover equipment failures
  • Interpreting instructions and requests from others working on programmes
Qualifications & Experience
  • Higher Diploma and above in Electrical/Electronic/Broadcast Engineering
  • Minimum 4 years working experience preferably in a busy Broadcasting environment
  • Ability to work and communicate well with the rest of the team
  • Can work for long, odd and Shift hours and sometimes away from normal working station.

Sub Editor - Entertainment & Convergence

The recruit will be part of a team that manages the Standard digital web content with a focus on Entertainment news.
 
The ideal candidate should have the following skills:
  • Ability to write, edit and-proofread and gauge newsworthiness of stories
  • Creativity and ability to generate web content for the Digital platforms
  • Experience in the entertainment industry/entertainment journalism
  • In-depth understanding of Twitter, Facebook and G+ and knowledgeable about how they can be used for conveying news and interactivity with multimedia audiences
  • Familiarity with social media trends, ethics, uses and strategies
  • Ability to edit video/audio clips, and load them on the site.
  • Understanding of YouTube, and other on-demand and live stream applications
  • Ability to use in-design and Photoshop
  • Proactive, interested and passionate about online news and entertainment journalism
  • Basic knowledge of website structures and Content Management Systems.
Key Responsibilities
  • Source for write and publish entertainment news
  • Work with Standard Group’s entertainment shows/magazines to ensure that their content is published on the site and disseminated on social media
  • Upload videos/images/stories to the website
  • Ensure that the site is on the cutting edge of entertainment news
  • Promote entertainment shows/publications on the web and social media
Qualifications & Experience
  • Degree or Masters in Journalism, mass communication, Information Science or any related field, with over 1 years’ experience in journalism.
  • Deep understanding of both local, African and international entertainment news
  • Newsroom exposure will be an added advantage
  • Advanced computer literacy
  • Social media usage and applications

Brand Manager

Key Accountabilities
  • Develop and implement the Division’s annual and long term marketing plans..
  • Develop the brand strategies and value propositions for the various digital assets of The Standard Group.
  • Analyze and drive key performance Indicators for the TV and newspaper assets - Awareness, Uptake of New Services and Products.
  • Develop and implement communication strategies including the development of comprehensive advertising briefs, compelling creative campaigns and effective media plans.
  • Provide market and competitive intelligence, monitoring and anticipation of consumer and market trends.
Qualification and Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Management or Marketing
  • 3 to 5 years in a Marketing role with significant experience in product development and market entry strategy.
  • Self driven, passionate and proactive individual who can work under pressure and within set deadlines.
  • Strong analytical skills to effectively present and implement action plans
  • Tenacity and resolve to work in a fast paced job.
  • Extremely creative with ability to think out of the box.

Creative Designer

  • A guru in Photoshop, InDesign and Illustrator and able to turn your had to open and paper and to do the odd great copy line.

Qualifications & Experience
  • A Bachelor’s Degree in Creative Design, Communication, Art, or a field equivalent field experience.
  • Able to work on Mac OS X, Widows and different software: Adobe InDesign, Adobe Illustrator and Adobe Acrobat Professional.
  • Minimum experience of 3 years in similar job.
  • Detail oriented, flexible, self-motivated and meeting deadlines.
  • Must have trouble shooting and organizational skills
