is looking for a self directed, dynamic and highly motivated person for the
position of a Project officer.

Today Program
The
programme is working with the district Education Assessment Resource Centres
(EARCs) coordinators from the Ministry of Education, teachers and existing NGOs
in Butere-Mumias, Embu, Kajiado and Kitui to build their capacity to identify
and support deaf children.
At the
national level the project aims to ensure parents and the wider family have the
capacity to participate in creating a national organization which influences
service provision for deaf children and their families.
Position: Project Officer
Job Overview: The Project Officer will be responsible for implementing “Rights
for Deaf Children Today” project in Embu, Kitui, Mumias and Kajiado Regions.
He/She
will participate in needs identification, planning and implementation of
project activities, identifying needs related to capacity building of both
parents of deaf children support groups, EARC coordinators and TOTs in
the four regions.
The
project officer will be responsible for preparing the project monthly,quarterly
and annual reports, participate in monitoring and evaluation of project
activities, participate in capacity building activities, field visits and
meetings with relevant partners and stakeholders to strengthen networks and
partnerships.
This
position is based in Nairobi with regular travel to the field.
Requirements:
·
A minimum of first University degree in Social sciences from a
recognised university, a Masters degree will be an added advantage.

At least 2 years experience in project management and
implementation.
·
Strong analytical ability and good communication skills in
English and Swahili.
·
Proficiency in computer applications such as word processing,
spreadsheets and power point.
·
Ability to embrace team work.
·
Ability to work with minimum supervision.
·
Experience and Knowledge in Kenyan Sign Language.
·
Experience of working within the Rights Based Approach
framework.
·
Professional experience of undertaking regional and national
advocacy and lobbying including development of action plans and strategies.
·
Demonstrable understanding of local decision making processes.
·
Experience in delivering coaching, training and facilitation as
appropriate to different groups and situations.
