Position: Export Manager
Grade: Three
Reports To: Commercial Manager

Broad Function
The Export Manager’s primary responsibility is to manage and
grow the export business and to ensure availability of the company’s products
in those markets.
Primary Duties/Responsibilities
- To formulate and
implement export related marketing, sales and distribution strategies and
plans to ensure achievement of targets.
- With the
Commercial Manager, actively explore and establish new markets for the
company’s products through visits, exhibitions and other means.
- To carry out
market research and intelligence and provide market information that will
assist in designing marketing strategies and development of new products
for existing and potential markets.
- To establish,
build and maintain relationships and contacts with transporters, shipping
agents, clearing and forwarding agents and regulatory authorities to
ensure smooth export sales operations.
- To prepare
export reports and statistics for management decision making.
- To handle all
documents related to export sales and ensure they are duly signed,
authorized and are in order to avoid litigation and/or penalties arising
from defective documents or procedures.
- To liaise with
export promotion authorities and participate in regional shows and
exhibitions to market the company and its products.
- To co-ordinate
the development of trading terms and conditions with distributors and
other business partners and ensure they are fair to export customers.
Person Specifications
Academic Qualifications: A Bachelor’s degree in Electrical /
Mechanical Engineering or any business related degree
Professional Qualifications: Postgraduate diploma in
Marketing or Business Management & Administration
Experience: At least five years sales/marketing experience in export sales.
Experience in a shipping or clearing and forwarding environment.
Skills:
- Good
interpersonal skills
- Computer
literacy including office applications, such as MS Office Word, Excel,
PowerPoint and Internet
- Good people
management skills
- Ability to work
under pressure and meet deadlines
