Terre des hommes Foundation (Tdh) is an international NGO
focussed on Child Rights.
To support the development of its programmes in Nairobi and
Garissa County, Tdh is encouraging applications from Kenyan nationals for the
role of Liaison Officer based in Garissa County.
Duty station: Garissa County
(with travels to Dadaab and northern Lagdera district)
Contract duration: Asap – 6 month
duration - renewable
Main task and responsibilities:
Main task and responsibilities:
- Establish
an appropriate and efficient working network with all relevant authorities
at district and community levels (civil, religious, and all other
services) to facilitate Tdh activities implementation, acceptance, and
ownership from the community in Garissa County.
- Participate
and support the Field Coordinator and the rest of the field team in the
review of the strategy for Tdh in Kenya.
- Adhere
to and contribute towards promoting Terre des hommes’ Charter, Code of
Conduct and Operating Principles.
- Support
the Field Coordinator promoting Terre des hommes Child Protection Policy
with local authorities, administration, communities and partners.
- Collaborate
with the Field Coordinator and Project Managers providing a neutral,
objective and external evaluation on programme impact, acceptance and
ownership by the supported community and make recommendations for future
programme directions.
- Act
as the local Tdh focal point for communication with local authorities and
community representatives and committees.
- On
a monthly basis, support the Field Coordinator in providing a regular
social and economic analysis of the North Eastern Province and Tdh
intervention areas within the monthly sitrep.
Requirements:
- Minimum
diploma-level education in community and development, program management
and/or social development.
- Experience
in working with similar organization, previous experience of two years or
more
- Experience
and knowledge of North Eastern Province social and security context,
community organization and dynamics
- Good
communication and negotiation skills
- Demonstrate
ability to use Microsoft office (word, excel, power point)
- Fluency
in English, Kisomali and Kiswahili.
- Previous
working experience in North eastern Kenya or in a tense area
- Ability
to work independently and under pressure
- Honesty
and integrity
