Embu
University College (A constituent College of the University of Nairobi)
The Embu University College was established through Legal Notice No. 65 of 17 June, 2011.
The
College will develop into a centre of excellence for learning and research in
agriculture and farming systems within and outside Kenya.
The
College wishes to fill the above referenced position with someone to spearhead
attainment of the above objectives.
The successful
candidate will be expected to meet the following requirements:
Requirements
- Applicants must
have an earned PhD and be Professors/Associate Professors.
- They should have
at least ten (10) years of academic and research experience at senior
level and possess demonstrated capacity for leadership in an
academic/research environment.
- They must have
held senior administrative posts such as Dean/Director of a Faculty,
School, or Institute in a recognized university.
- Applicants who
have held positions equivalent to the advertised position and whose
academic training and professional background is in the core programme
areas of the college, will have an added advantage.
- In addition,
candidates are expected to be familiar with national, regional and global
trends in higher education and demonstrate potential to plan, develop and
implement academic programmes, institutional linkages and managerial
ability.
- Successful
applicants are expected to have excellent organizational, interpersonal
and communication skills, highest ethical standards, integrity and
professionalism.
Applicants should have been actively involved in research as evidenced by publications. - Experience in
networking, fundraising and resource mobilization will be an added
advantage.
Duties and Responsibilities
As the chief Executive of the University College, the successful candidate will:
- Be the academic
and administrative head of the University College;
- Have overall
responsibility of the direction, organization, administration and programmes
of the University College;
- Coordinate
development and implementation of the academic and administrative policies
of the University College;
- Maintain
efficiency and good order of the University College and ensure proper
enforcement of the statutes and regulations;
- Provide
innovative and creative leadership in the areas of planning and
development
Terms and Conditions of Service
- Successful
candidates will be offered a competitive remuneration package, including
house allowance and benefits, applicable for the Principal of Constituent
University college of a public University in Kenya
- Employment will
be for a five (5) year contract renewable once depending on performance.
