About World Volunteers Kenya (WVK)
We are Kenyan based-Organization facilitating between local
communities, Organizations, and both international and local volunteers to
participate in voluntary work in Kenya.
There is quite a tremendous difference volunteers could make in
helping local organizations achieve their goals in the areas of health,
education and the local economy. We are based in Nairobi but run projects
throughout the country.

Volunteer Recruitment and Training
- Recruit required
number of volunteers (varies by site)
- Recruit volunteers to commit to
one-day, short-term, and long-term volunteer projects (details of the size
and scope of these projects will be provided by WVK staff)
- Present WVK to
campus and local community organizations, student groups, faculty, and
staff to obtain volunteers, and collaborate on service events
- Co-facilitate and support training
of all volunteers. Site staff will work with the volunteer coordinator to
make sure that all volunteer trainings meet WVK quality standards
Planning and Implementation
- Assist site
staff in identifying volunteer projects through needs assessment and
ongoing communication with partner centers.
- Assist site
staff in implementation of events and support volunteers for service days
held at partner centers
- Work with site staff and members
to plan annual volunteer appreciation events
Volunteer Management and Tracking
- Establish and
regularly update volunteer schedule and list of events
- Communicate regularly
with volunteers through check-in phone calls, e-mails, and personal
appreciations for their efforts
- Document and log
volunteer hours in volunteer tracking system and prepare reports on the
same.
Evaluation of Volunteer Activities
- Collect and
manage feedback from all parties involved in volunteer activities,
including volunteers, partnering centers staff, and community members
through written reports, testimonials, and verbal comments
- Share feedback with site staff to
acknowledge strengths, successes and to make improvements for future
volunteer activities
Qualifications and Experience
Dedication to volunteerism and coordinating volunteer activities
- Experience in any leadership role
at organization, employment or community level.
- Ability to build
relationships and work with volunteers and community members
- Track record of
planning and implementing events
- Desire to learn
about WVK practices, including volunteers’ best practices
Communication
- Strong English language
communication skills (written and oral). Any other foreign language will
be an added advantage.
- Ability to give
presentations to large groups / strong presentation skills
- Desire to share
the WVK mission with the community

- Ability to work
with people from diverse backgrounds
- Enthusiastic and positive attitude
toward helping others
Professionalism
- Ability to work
well independently and on a team
- Maturity and
good judgment in relating to WVK peers, partners, and families

Academic & Professional Qualifications
- Holder of a
bachelor’s degree in a business related field, social sciences, strategic
planning / management or tours and travel.
- At least 2 years
working experience in a related or similar position in a corporate,
non-governmental organization.
- Working
knowledge of basic computer packages such as Microsoft word, Excel,
Powerpoint and Access.
- Applicant must
