Deputy Medical Coordinator Job in Juba, S Sudan


Medecins Sans Frontieres – Switzerland (MSFCH) is a humanitarian medical organization providing emergency medical aid to populations in need. 

MSFCH is seeking candidates for the post of Deputy Medical Coordinatorto support its humanitarian operations in South Sudan.

Location: Juba, South Sudan with regular field visits to the projects.
Type of contract: 1 year. Direct Supervisor: Medical Coordinator


Scope of responsibilities:
  • Do exploratory mission / situation assessment / project formulation
  • Know and apply rapid assessment tools and procedures (e. g. population count, etc.)
  • Do project implementation, follow-up and monitoring, field visits and field work
  • In collaboration with the field team challenge / adapt medical operational priorities and strategies through the annual plan of action and logical framework
  • Monitor the program through data analysis and field visit, give feedback to the team and exchange medical information
  • Report data and data analysis to the Medical Coordinator through regular reports. Put in perspective difficulties encountered and context of the project
  • Have knowledge of policies, guidelines and minimum packages developed within MSF.
  • Knowledge and utilization of MSF medical database. 
  • Keep updated Head of Mission and Field
  • Coordinator about these new orientations and policies. 
  • Bring technical support to the field
  • Do pharmacy management in absence of the Pharmacist
  • Do representation of MSF-Switzerland
  • Work on strategy / policy development
  • Is involved in staff health
  • Do emergency preparedness
Recruitment criteria:
  • Degree in Medicine from a recognised Institution and registered with the Medical Board
  • Two years experience working in a hospital
  • Experience in management of a medical team
  • MSF / INGO experience
  • Fluent in spoken and written English; Computer literate

  • Organized, methodical and accurate
  • Ability to work on strict deadlines and under pressure.
  • Good team player.
  • Motivated with a demonstrated ability to adapt to new working methods.
  • Ability to work in a multidisciplinary, multicultural and remote environment.
