Applications are hereby invited from suitably qualified candidates to fill the above Fixed Term position in the Supply Section of UNICEF Kenya Country Office.
Under the general supervision of the Chief, Child Protection, the incumbent provides oversight of the monitoring of and reporting on UNICEF’s programmes; identify gaps in children services; and strengthening coordination of the emergency child protection programmes in the Turkana area.
Main duties and responsibilities:
The staff will be responsible for administering and monitoring UNICEF supported child protection activities in the Turkana area in the following manner:
- Identify
gaps in children services and alternative courses of action to
accelerate/improve programme delivery in line with UNICEF overall strategy
in the Turkana area.
- Ensure
effective implementation of programme support for UNICEF child protection
actions in Turkana and manage and monitor PCAs with NGOs.
- Facilitate
and support strengthening of child protection coordination for Lodwar.
- Ensure
regular SitReps to be presented to the chief of child protection in
Nairobi and contribute to quality donor reports as well as mid-year and
and annual reports.
Required Qualifications:
Advanced university degree in Social Sciences, Law, or related technical field specifically pertaining to protection issues affecting children and women.
Experience:
Advanced university degree in Social Sciences, Law, or related technical field specifically pertaining to protection issues affecting children and women.
Experience:
- 3-5
years of emergency experience, preferably with exposure to both UNICEF and
UNHCR protection and child protection.
- Refugee
camp experience highly desired.
Advanced knowledge of programming for IDTR, psycho social
support, GBV prevention and response and other child protection interventions.
Language:
Fluency in written and spoken English; Experience working in region are assets.
