Plateau State College of Health Technology started as a School of Health Technology in 1977 with the sole aim of training middle man power cadre health personnel for the implementation of Primary Health Care Policies in the rural areas. The School was upgraded to a College in 2003, via Plateau State of Nigeria Gazette No 2 Vol. 10 (College of Health Technology Law, 2003), by the then Governor of Plateau State, Chief Joshua C. Dariye with Mrs. Mercy Kyesduhun as its pioneer Provost.
We
are on a mission to be the foremost institution of training qualified medical
personnel to meet the demands of the World Health Organization (WHO) targets of
Health for All by the year 2020 and beyond.
The
Governing Council in accordance with the applicable law establishing the
College and subject to the approved conditions of service, invites applications
from suitably qualified and interested candidates for appointment to the
following position below:
Job Title: College Librarian
Location: Zawan, Plateau
Job Description
- The College Librarian shall be responsible to the Provost for the
administration and development of the College Library and for the
coordination of library and information services in accordance with the
policies and regulations of the College.
Requirements
- Possess a Master's Degree in Library Science, Library and
Information Science, or another relevant discipline, as applicable, from a
recognised university.
- Possess at least eighteen (18) years of relevant post-qualification
experience in a tertiary institution or comparable library/information
service environment.
- Possess appropriate professional registration or membership of a
recognised professional library/information science body, where
applicable.
- Be a Chief Librarian or hold an equivalent senior library position
in a tertiary institution, with at least five (5) years' experience at
that level, subject to the applicable conditions of service.
- Demonstrate proficiency in ICT and modern library/information
management systems.
- Provide evidence of scholarly publications and participation in
relevant professional conferences, seminars, workshops, or other
academic/professional activities.
- Demonstrate leadership ability, initiative, and creativity in
library management, policy development, and service delivery.
- Demonstrate good interpersonal relations, sound professional
judgment, and commitment to institutional development.
- Demonstrate proven integrity and good character.
- Be medically fit to perform the duties of the office, in accordance
with applicable requirements.
- Not be below forty-five (45) years and not above sixty (60) years of
age by 31st December 2026.
Tenure and Condition of
Service
- The successful candidate shall hold office for a term of four (4)
years, renewable once, on such terms and conditions as may be specified in
the letter of appointment.
- The remuneration and other conditions of service shall be as
applicable to this post in similar institutions in the State and as may be
determined by the Governing Council of the College in accordance with the
Law.
- Remuneration and other conditions of service shall be as applicable
to the respective position in the College and similar institutions in the
State, subject to the approved conditions of service and decisions of the
Governing Council.
