Job Summary

  • We are seeking a proactive, customer-focused, and target-driven Relationship Officer – Personal Banking to acquire new customers, manage existing relationships, promote banking products, and drive the growth of the bank’s retail and personal banking portfolio.
  • The ideal candidate will be responsible for generating new business, understanding customers’ financial needs, providing suitable banking solutions, and maintaining strong customer relationships while achieving assigned sales and revenue targets.

Key Responsibilities

  • Acquire new customers through direct sales, referrals, networking, and business development activities.
  • Manage and grow an assigned portfolio of personal banking customers.
  • Promote and sell banking products including savings/current accounts, loans, cards, investments, digital banking solutions, and other approved products.
  • Identify customers’ financial needs and recommend appropriate products and services.
  • Develop and maintain strong, long-term relationships with existing and prospective customers.
  • Conduct market visits, customer calls, and other business development activities to generate leads.
  • Follow up on prospective customers and convert qualified leads into active customers.
  • Cross-sell and up-sell relevant banking products to existing customers.
  • Ensure accurate completion and submission of account opening and customer documentation.
  • Maintain up-to-date customer records and sales activity reports.
  • Monitor customer transactions and identify opportunities for increased engagement and product penetration.
  • Resolve customer enquiries and complaints promptly or escalate them through the appropriate channels.
  • Ensure compliance with the bank’s policies, KYC requirements, regulatory guidelines, and internal controls.
  • Meet or exceed assigned monthly sales, acquisition, portfolio growth, and revenue targets.
  • Participate in branch marketing campaigns, customer acquisition drives, and other business development initiatives.
  • Prepare regular reports on sales activities, customer acquisition, pipeline, and portfolio performance.

Requirements

  • Minimum of Bachelor’s Degree / HND in Business Administration, Marketing, Economics, Finance, Banking, or a related field.
  • 1–3 years of experience in sales, business development, relationship management, or retail banking is an advantage.
  • Candidates with strong sales experience in banking, fintech, telecommunications, FMCG, or other customer-facing industries may be considered.
  • Strong communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent customer service and relationship-management abilities.
  • Ability to work independently and under pressure in a target-driven environment.
  • Strong prospecting, lead-generation, and conversion skills.
  • Good knowledge of retail banking products and customer acquisition practices.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and basic digital tools.
