The Independent
Policing Oversight Authority (IPOA) is a state Authority created under an Act
of Parliament No.35 of 2011, which provides for civilian oversight over the
work of the police. IPOA is mandated to hold the police accountable to the
public in the performance of their functions.
To enable the
Authority achieve its mandate and vision for “a robust civilian accountability
mechanism that promotes public trust and confidence in the National Police
Service”, the Authority now wishes to recruit results oriented Kenyans citizen
with drive, vision and creativity to fill the following vacancies at the
Authority:-
Records Management Officer

Job Grade 7
Reporting to the Administration Officer,
the jobholder will be responsible for:
- Ensuring security of information and records in the registry.
- Storage and maintenance of files and records.
- Updating and maintenance of records and file index.
- Ensuring access restriction;
- Organization of the Authority’s General Registries;
- Liaise with the Heads of Units and Departments to design and implement records management policies and retention schedules of the Authority;
- Preparing archival finding aids;
- Periodic surveys and appraisal of records;
- Assisting all Units and Departments come up with a Master list of all documents;
- Ensuring that there is compliance with the National Archives and Documentation Act.
The successful
candidate should have a Diploma in Records/Information Management from a
recognized institution, at least 3 years’ work experience in a large registry
or records management office and archives, preferably in a public institution,
be fully conversant with Kenyan legislation on records; records management
procedures and practices including records surveys & appraisals, records
classification & indexing schemes and excellent computer skills.
