Job Title: Financial Accountant

Reporting To: Kenya Country Director

Location: Nairobi, Kenya

Purpose of the Job:  To oversee the recording of the company’s financial information, including, but not limited to, preparing monthly reports, budgets, commentaries, standard financial statements, invoices, delivery notes, and receipt vouchers.

Key Responsibilities:

·                     Ensure accurate and appropriate recording and analysis of revenues and expenses;
·                     Resolve accounting discrepancies and irregularities
·                     Ensure that records comply with laws and regulations; Compute taxes owed, prepare tax returns, ensure prompt payment
·                     Compile and analyse financial information to prepare entries to accounts, such as general ledger accounts, and document business transactions
·                     Manage receivables for existing clients and payables for suppliers
·                     Administer payrolls and all applicable employee taxes
·                     Explain billing invoices and accounting policies to staff, vendors and clients
·                     Work with both external and internal auditors when required
·                     Establish and monitor the implementation and maintenance of accounting control procedures;
·                     Inspect account books and accounting systems to keep up to date;
·                     Make best-practices recommendations to management;
·                     Develop and manage financial  systems and policies
·                     Carry out any other duties, related to the job, assigned by management as and when required

Skills and Personal Attributes:
·                     Proficient in Pastel Partner or highly similar ERP software
·                     Proficient in Microsoft Office suite of programs (i.e., MS Excel)
·                     Fluent in Kenyan tax and accounting codes/laws
·                     Strong analytical, organizational and communication skills
·                     Highest ethical standards and integrity
·                     Ability to foster and thrive in a team environment
·                     Qualifications and Experience:
·                     Bachelor’s degree (preferably in Accounting) and CPA certification required
·                     1-3 years of experience with successful track record
·                     Kenyan national strongly preferred
