International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD) is an international
financial institution and a specialized United Nations agency dedicated to
eradicating rural poverty and hunger. It does so by financing programmes and

by advocating at the local, national and international level for policies that
enable poor rural people to overcome poverty.
When
co-financing is included, the scale of this is currently over $2 billion
annually. The AVP provides leadership to the over 250 staff of the Department,
including staff in 40 IFAD country offices. S/he oversees project
identification, design, financing, and supervision work.

development.
