The Kenya Pipeline
Company Limited (KPC) is a State Corporation established under the Companies
Act (CAP 486) of the Laws of Kenya.
The overall objective
of the Company is to provide the most efficient reliable safe and cost
effective means of transporting petroleum products from Mombasa to the
hinterland.
The Company would
like to recruit a visionary and dynamic leader for the position of Managing Director as detailed below:
Key
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Responsible for
the implementation of the Board’s decisions in a results oriented and
timely manner to achieve the Company’s goals, objectives and agreed
performance targets.
- Developing of
long term strategy, business plans, annual operating budgets, and
establishing proper internal monitoring and control systems and
procedures.
- Coordinating and
preparing business related proposals and reports.
- Ensuring
effective communication among all company stakeholders.
- Ensuring
effective Human Resource Management; developing and nurturing a dynamic
and competent workforce through a robust performance driven culture.
- Ensuring
continuous achievement and improvement of the Company’s objectives.
- Overseeing and
ensuring implementation of corporate policies, programmes and projects within
given timelines and budgets.
- Fostering best
practice corporate culture that promotes ethical practices and good
corporate citizenship and governance.
- Ensure
compliance with applicable statutory, legal, regulatory requirements and
standards and to manage existing and emerging business risks.
- Ensure prudent
management of resources, assets and safe custody of records.
- Ensure all
project financing needs are sourced on time and competitively with the
right mix of financing.
- Implement Board
decisions efficiently, effectively and keep the Board informed in all
strategic aspects of the business.
Person
Profile:
- A Bachelors
degree from a recognized university and a Masters degree in Business
Administration (MBA), Engineering, Economics, Finance, Commercial Law or a
related field.
- Professional
qualifications and membership to a relevant professional body.
- Over fourteen
(14) years relevant experience in senior management of a large and complex
organization. Experience from organizations with a strong core business in
the Petroleum Industry will be an added advantage.
- Broad knowledge
of economics, finance, corporate governance and petroleum industry issues
and trends at national, regional and international levels, including
in-depth understanding of petroleum in the global marketplace.
- Strong
leadership skills to foster teamwork, develop and motivate staff, resolve
conflicts as well as ability to provide direction, guidance, momentum and
vision in order to achieve organizational objectives.
- Strong
communication and presentation skills in both English and Kiswahili,
including ability to develop proposals, concept papers, position papers as
well as write reports and prepare relevant publications.
- High level
interpersonal and cross-cultural skills including ability to build
alliances and collaborative relationships with sensitivity to diversity.
- Strong expertise
in strategic management, project planning and budgeting, resource and
performance management, implementation as well as monitoring and
evaluation.
- Proficiency in computer
applications such as word processing, data base, spreadsheets, accounting
packages, internet and relevant workflow process program applications.
- Ability to
analyse and interpret operational, economic and financial data and apply
management principles and practices in making sound business decisions.
- Ability to
develop and implement performance management systems, giving performance
feedback, and providing support to professional development efforts linked
to strategic objectives.
- Ability to
initiate and implement planned organizational change, adapt to rapidly
changing conditions in the environments as well as align programmes in the
appropriate direction with cohesiveness and a sense of urgency.
- Must meet the
requirements of chapter 6 of the constitution of Kenya 2010 on leadership
and integrity.
