Selection Panel for Appointment of Chairperson and Members of the National
Education Board

Applications are
invited from suitably qualified persons for the following positions in the
National Education Board.
A.
Requirements for Appointment
1.
Chairperson of the Board
A person shall be
qualified for appointment as the Chairperson of the Board if such person:-
(a) holds a degree in
education from a university recognized in Kenya;
(b) has knowledge and
at least fifteen years experience in matters relating to education;
(c) has had a
distinguished career in their respective fields; and
(d) meets the
requirements of Chapter Six of the Constitution.
2.
Member of the Board
A Person shall be
qualified for appointment as a member of the Board if such person –
(a) holds a degree
from a recognized university;
(b) has knowledge and
at least ten years experience in matters relating to any of the following
fields: -
(i) education;
(ii) management;
(iii) finance;
(iv) governance;
(v) human rights;
(vi) public
administration;
(vii) law;
(viii) economics; and
(ix) meets the
requirements of Chapter Six of the Constitution.
(c) has had a
distinguished career in their respective fields; and
(d) meets the
requirement of Chapter Six of the Constitution.
3.
A person shall not be qualified for appointment as the Chairperson or a member
of the Board if such Person: -
(a) is a member of
Parliament or a county assembly,
(b) is a member of a
local authority;
(c) is an
undischarged bankrupt; or
(d) has been removed
from office for contravening the provisions of the Constitution or any other
written law.
B.
Duration of Appointment Chairperson
The
Chairperson
shall serve for a term of Four Years and shall be eligible for re-appointment
for one further term of four years.
Member: A member shall
serve for a term of three years and shall be eligible for re-appointment for
one further term of three years.
C.
Terms of Service
(i) Part Time
(ii) The Chairperson
and Members of the Board shall be paid such remuneration, fees, allowances and
disbursements as may be approved by the Cabinet Secretary in consultation with
the Salaries and Remuneration Commission.
D.
Applicants should attach copies of clearance certificates from:
- The Kenya
Revenue Authority
- The Ethics and
anti-Corruption Commission
- Criminal
Investigations Department
- Any of the
Credit Reference Bureaus in the Country
- Higher Education
Loans Board (HELB)
- A record of
Achievement in previous pursuits
E.

Certificates, Record of achievement, National identification Card or Passport,
