Announcement of Vacancies
 
1. Chairperson
 
2. Member (7 Positions)
 
Applications are invited from suitably qualified persons for the following positions in the Teachers Service Commission:
 
A. Requirements for Appointment
 
1. Chairperson of the Commission
 
A person shall be qualified for appointment as Chairperson, if such person:
 
(a) holds a degree in education from a University recognized in Kenya;
 
(b) has knowledge and experience of at least fifteen (15) years in matters relating to education and training; and
 
(c) meets the requirements of Chapter Six of the Constitution.
 
2. Member of the Commission
 
A person shall be qualified for appointment as Member, if such person:
 
(a) holds a degree from a university recognized in Kenya;
 
(b) has knowledge and experience of at least ten (10) years in matters relating to any of the following fields-
 
(i) Education;
 
(ii) Governance;
 
(iii) Management; or
 
(iv) Law; and
 
(c) Meets the requirements of Chapter Six of the Constitution.
 
A person shall not be qualified for appointment as Chairperson or a Member if the person:-
  • is a serving member of Parliament;
  • is a serving member of a governing body of a political party;
  • is a member of a local authority; or
  • has been found in accordance with any law to have misused or abused a state office or public office or in any way to have contravened Chapter Six of the Constitution.
Duration of Appointment
  • One six-year non-renewable term.
Terms of Service
  1. Full-time;
  2. Shall not hold any other office or employment for profit whether public or private; and
  3. Remuneration and benefits will be as set by the Salaries and Remuneration Commission.

  1. The Kenya Revenue Authority;
  2. The Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission;
  3. The Criminal Investigations Department;
  4. Any of the Credit Reference Bureaus in the country;
  5. Higher Education Loans Board (HELB).
