Participatory Approaches for Integrated Development (PAFID) is a non-profit organization that creates sustainable, culturally relevant solutions, enabling communities in Kenya to break longstanding cycles of poor crop production methods that lead to soil degradation, food insecurity and inadequate nutrition.

PAFID’s mission is to improve food security, nutrition and incomes of small holder farming communities in Kenya by advancing better farming techniques, and encouraging their adoption.

Using simple replicable methods, communities can improve livelihood inequalities whilst practicing innovative climate change and global warming mitigation techniques.

PAFID is seeking to recruit a temporary finance manager

Position: Finance Manager 


(Fixed temporary position, 5 Months)

Location:
Nairobi

Reporting to the directors, you will actively lead the review and  implementation of all  finance, procedures and systems to ensure they continue to efficiently and effectively support program delivery.

You will lead and direct a small team of finance staff ensuring that performance
expectations and standards are met.

As the ideal candidate, you will have a proven track record of at least ten years work experience in developing, implementing and monitoring financial practices and procedures as well as managing procurement activities. 

In addition, you should possess sound analytical, advisory and decision-making capacity, you have strong interpersonal and communication skills

Key Tasks:
  • Ensure that PAFID is in compliance with all internal policies and relevant regulations and ensure filings are completed in a timely manner.
  • Prepare timely monthly management and project accounts and develop cash flow forecasting
  • Prepare project budgets
  • Supervise the preparation of all payment vouchers and invoices, manage and maintain PAFID bank accounts and ensure timely payments of all PAFID accounts
  • Ensure the accurate posting of all revenue and expenditure to the accounting system ledgers, and maintain complete accurate ledgers at all times
  • Supervise the monthly payroll for senior and junior staff
  • Supervise members of finance and administration team
  • Manage ongoing banking relationships for maximum efficiency. 
Qualification and Experience:
  • Minimum 10 years experience in financial management in an NGO Environment of which at least 4 years  should be at senior management level.
  • Bachelor’s Degree In Business, Accounting, Finance or a Related Field.
  • CPA K
Knowledge:
  • Comprehensive understanding of accounting and financial principles and practice
  • Sound knowledge of Kenya tax and labour laws
  • Sound understanding of international financial reporting standards including controls and accountabilities
Other requirements:
  • Demonstrated initiative and the ability to work effectively within time constraints
  • Knowledge of Financial software and tools
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office software.
Preference will be given to candidates who will be available to take up position from the 1st of August 2013
