Main activities
The main activities for the team members can be grouped into
three major categories which include:
1. Technical support to the local partner treatment facilities
2. Regional Mentorship
3. Reporting
Cross-Cutting Required Skills/qualities
These skills are necessary for all the team members due to the
nature of team approach and operations
- Suitable computer
skills in Microsoft Word, power point and Excel.
- Strong
organizational skills and ability to work in a team-oriented, culturally
diverse environment.
- Excellent
interpersonal skills, sound judgment, communication skills, and ability to
identify and resolve policy and operational constraints effectively.
- Ability to
handle multiple tasks simultaneously, set priorities, and work
independently.
- Excellent verbal
and written communication skills.
- Fluency in
English.
- Ability to
facilitate learning experience using innovative training methodologies and
mentor other clinical staff.
- Have excellent
facilitation skills with emphasis on adult learning techniques
- Competent
practitioners in their areas of specialization

Nursing and Provider Initiative Testing and Counselling (PITC)
Officer
Based in Kisumu
Key activities and responsibilities:
- Support the
nursing team in clinic management, patient triaging, infection control,
adherence including defaulter management and other related nursing duties
at the regional HIV clinics
- Utilize site
data to inform quality of care performance at the site and show staff how
to make use of such information to improve operations
- Onsite mentoring
to nursing staff with the goal of performance improvement in the overall
patient care
- Examine facility
operations and systems and recommend ways to improve outputs and outcomes
- Coordinate all
site HIV counseling and testing services
- Exemplify the
roles of nursing staff as part of healthcare team in patient care and how
they interact with others and other departments
- Assist training
center to develop the nursing components, processes and SOPs within an HIV
program at the site level
- Prepare regular
reports status of activity implementation for the Director Clinical
Services
- Participate in
the development of the continuation application documentation and breaking
down of specific roles for direct reports.
- Prepare monthly
activity schedules as per the annual work plan
Qualifications:
- Bachelor of
Science in Nursing or Diploma in Advanced Nursing
- At least 5
years’ experience, 3 of which should be in a field based environment
offering mentorship and training to nursing staff
- A valid Practice
License from the Nursing Council of Kenya
- Basic training
in HIV/AIDS
CBTS (Community Based Treatment Service) Nurse
Based in Kisumu
Key activities and responsibilities:
- Support the
community teams to develop and sustain initial and continuous highly
intensive treatment support
- Develop and
improve patient and family structured treatment preparation and education
SOPs
- Examine
community operations and systems and recommend ways to improve outputs and
outcomes
- Engaging the
patient’s community through C&T, addressing general community health
issues that impact successful patient outcomes
- Provide
leadership to the sites CBTS team to support care of patients, PWP
,adherence including defaulter management and other related duties at the
health facilities and surrounding community. Utilize site data to inform
quality of care performance at the site and show staff how to make use of
such information to improve operations
- Provide
Mentorship to adherence nursing staff, community health workers/
volunteers, counselors with the goal of performance improvement in the
overall patient care.
- Examine facility
operations and systems and recommend ways to improve outputs and outcomes
that concern adherence at sites
- Exemplify
the roles of nursing and care giving staff as part of healthcare team in
patient care and how they interact with others and other departments
- He/she shall be
the point person for HIV prevention activities
- Assist in
developing HIV prevention and care components, processes and SOPs for the
adherence, health facility and community.
- Adapt curricula
to support training of health care workers. Support development and
implementation of different curricula in different settings
- Organize and
facilitate in various CPDs
- Reports to the
Director of Clinical Services
- Prepare and
present regular reports and feedback to the sites and the team members
Qualifications:
- Bachelor of
Science in Nursing or Diploma in Registered Community Nursing with a
minimum 3 years’ experience or
- Experience in
community project work in HIV/AIDS.
- Advanced
training in HIV/AIDS care and treatment
- A valid Practice
License from the Nursing Council of Kenya
Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) Lead
Based in Kisumu
Key activities and responsibilities:
- Develops and
implements systems and procedures for the identification, collection, and
analysis of performance measurement data.
- Analyzes,
updates, and modifies standard operating procedures and processes to
continually improve QI services/operations.
- Assists in
strategizing and facilitating various committee structures and functions
to best address the QI process and oversees Quality Committees.
- Supervises
individual site CQI teams with overall responsibility for providing
support for clinical quality initiatives.
- Collects and
summarizes performance data, identifies opportunities for improvement, and
presents findings quarterly to the organization
- Facilitates
strategic and tactical planning for the quality improvement program,
including needs assessments, evaluations, root cause analysis and
interventions.
- Leads,
facilitates, and advises training site quality improvement teams
- Prepare regular
activity reports for the TA team lead as well as Director Clinical
Services
Qualifications:
- Basic medical
degree (MB ChB/MD)
- Registered with
Kenya Medical and Practitioners Board
- At least 3 years
of clinical hands on experience of providing integrated HIV/AIDS services
to diverse patients in a large program-linked facility orbusy clinical
practice
- Training in
quality improvement models and experience in quality improvement projects
for clinical intervention.
Psychosocial Counselor
Based in Kisumu
Key activities and responsibilities:
- Design
psychosocial interventions within the community focusing on the needs of
HIV infected children, adolescents and adults
- To monitor and
gather relevant data related to psychosocial program implementation,
prepare and present reports to the Director Clinical Services
- Work closely
with OVC specialists and palliative care attendants in order to roll out a
comprehensive HIV/AIDS care package
- Provide support
and training to psychosocial service providers to carry out appropriate
assessments of psychosocial needs and comply with required standards of
setting up psychosocial programs, providing regular feedback on concerns
for children, adolescents and adults.
Qualifications:
- Must have a
minimum of Bachelor Degree in CounselingPsychology/Guidance and Counseling
from a recognized learning institution and at least two years experience
in the field of counseling, training, group facilitation, supervision
and/or community based psychosocial programming.
- Must have
special interest, understanding, sensitivity and proven skills of working
with groups of internally suffering vulnerable children and adults and,
appropriate stress management and burnout prevention skills.
- Must have good
organizational management and leadership skills. In addition, must be able
to develop strategies, and negotiate ideas with stakeholders, particularly
with donor and partner agencies.
Project Accountant
Based in Kisumu
Duties and responsibilities
- To plan,
organize and implement accounting operations and objectives; coordinates
and integrates all activities toward achievement of established goals and
objectives
- To ensure all
functions and programs under charge are performed within established
budgetary parameters, to include performing cost control activities,
monitoring revenues and expenditures, and ensuring sound fiscal control;
- To prepare
fiscal documentation regarding accounting activities, e.g., weekly,
monthly and annual reports
- Maintain and reconcile
balance sheet accounts for all funds
- To plan, manage,
coordinate, and implement the year end closing processes and procedures
for the assigned accounting records; conducts year-end closing process;
provides information to financial auditors; conducts standard internal
audits of various accounting records;
- To ensure
adherence to generally accepted accounting standards and principles;
ensures maintenance of proper audit trails and verification and
reconciliation actions for all processed work
- To evaluate
receipts, expenditure forms, purchase orders, distributions, and
disbursement orders for the purpose of ensuring compliance with policies
- To perform
verification and reconciliation tasks for invoices/ receipts/ balances
according to department checks and balances procedures
- Ensure proper
set up and running of accounting systems
- Compilation and
combination of financial reports
- Preparation of
the audit file
- Plans and
directs the activities of accounts assistants engaged in themaintenance of
a variety of accounting records and controls applicable to all financial
transactions of the KEC-Catholic Secretariat and the US Grant requirements
Qualifications
- Has a Bachelor
of Commerce Degree Accounting option or its equivalent.
- Has a minimum of
CPA K professional qualification;

Driver
Based in Kisumu
Purpose of the Post
Facilitates and provide effective transport movement of program
staff to and from meetings, Local Partner Treatment Facilities
(LPTFs), and to run office/program errands when required including general
errands / proper maintenance of the program vehicles
Qualifications and Requirements
- Is a holder of
K.C.S.E with minimum C- grade.
- Is of not less
than 28 years of age
- Holder of clean,
BCE Class, valid driving license
- Minimum 3 years
driving experience,
- A good working
knowledge of Nairobi and around the Country is a must
- Certificate of
good conduct
- Knowledge in
vehicle mechanics

Christian
Project Officer – Health Systems Strengthening
Based in Nairobi
Job Objectives: to support treatment facilities in strengthening health systems
to improve overall service delivery and program sustainability
Key Duties
- Monitor
performance of health systems strengthening workplans at facilities.
- Travel to
facilities to provide on-site technical assistance specifically in health
systems strengthening and program management skills-building
- Build capacity
of facility staff in the areas of program management and health systems
- Work with other
KEC-KARP team members to assist facilities in developing a plan for
integration of HIV clinic services and systems into the wider health
system structure of the health facility
- Participate in
the planning and facilitation of technical workshops for capacity-building
and experience strengthening in health systems
- Ensure that
project activities comply with national guidelines and policies.
- Participate in
dashboard review and follow up on issues that require strengthening
projects
- Participate in
project evaluations and assessments
- Identify gaps in
knowledge and skills in facility administration staff and advise the
KEC-KARP on identified training needs.
- Communicate
needs, challenges and successes on the facilities and share best practices
and lessons learnt.
Academic /Professional Qualification
- Bachelors Degree
in Social Sciences/Business Administration/health related training from a
recognized University
- Masters Degree
in Public Health, Project Management, Health Systems Management, Hospital
Administration or other related fields will an added advantage
- Minimum 3 years
in HIV/AIDS Health Systems strengthening/hospital management experience
- Demonstrated
work experience in organizational policy development; strategic planning,
budget planning and monitoring, proposal writing.
- Knowledge of
Health Management Information Systems is a strong advantage
- Demonstrated
ability to transfer knowledge through formal and informal training.
