II. Brief Organisation Background
PICO Knowledge Net is a leading knowledge management organization based in Nairobi. Recently, PICO KN has recently received a three year grant to support its knowledge management activities in East and Southern Africa.
The PICO KN Directors have full programmatic responsibilities
and management responsibility for human and financial resources for East and
Southern Africa region.
In order to ensure that its office based in Nairobi runs smoothly, PICO KN has an opening for the following positions:- Programme Officer, Learning and Communication and Finance and Administration Officer
III. Organizational Context
Programme Officer
Under the guidance of the PICO KN directors, the Programme Officer is responsible for effective management of a knowledge management network through transparent utilization of grant resources.
Duties and Responsibilities:
The incumbent will support the programme team as follows:
- Responsible
for the day to day management and coordination of the network
- Conceptualize
innovative KM approaches and scaling up
- Mobilize
other actors to financially support regional KM networks
- Able
to follow institutional development approach to learning and KM
development
- Publications
of knowledge products
- Networking
with other KM actors outside the network
- Technically
support projects in areas of communication and documentation
- Learning
oriented project management, learning oriented M&E and action research
for innovate
- Organize
and facilitate workshops
- Facilitate
and nurture communities of practice
- Facilitate
group sessions and team building activities within PICO KN and with other
actors
- Any
other assignments as maybe assigned by the Supervisor
Required Skills and Experience: -
- Master
Degree in communication and rural development
- Proficiency
in spoken and written English and French would be an asset.
- Minimum
five years work experience; experience in an international setting a plus;
notable experience in development work with a focus on knowledge
management a must
- Computer
Literate; excel, Microsoft word, internet, publishing software’s and
information management tools.
- Professionalism:
able to exercise sound judgment, pay great attention to detail, work well
in a team, culturally sensitive, demonstrate appreciation for different
cultures and practices, project a positive image, self-motivated and able
to recommend options for resolution of issues.
Learning and Communication Officer
Under the guidance of the Programme Manager with direct supervision of the Directors, the Learning and Communication Officer is responsible for effective learning and communication.
Duties and Responsibilities:
The incumbent will support the programme team as follows:
- Support
documentation of case studies and lesson learning
- Prepare
publications, newsletters and policy briefs
- Development
of knowledge products guidelines, etc
- Documentation
of workshop processes and synthesis
- Updating
of website and development of information management systems for PICO KN
and projects
- Mentoring
and coaching virtual Communities of Practices
- Technically
support projects in areas of communication and documentation
- Facilitate
group sessions and team building activities
- Any
other assignments as maybe assigned by the Supervisor
Required Skills and Experience: -
- Bachelors
Degree in communication and rural development relevant areas and Master
degree would be an advantage.
- Proficiency
in spoken and written English and French would be an asset.
- Minimum
five years work experience; experience in an international setting a plus;
notable experience in development work a must
- Computer
Literate; excel, Microsoft word, internet, publishing software’s and
information management tools.

Finance and Administration Officer
Under the guidance of the Field Operations Specialist with direct supervision of the Head of Office, the Administrative Associate is responsible for effective administrative services through transparent utilization of PICO KN resources.
Duties and Responsibilities:
In liaison with the Programme Manager, the incumbent will support the programme team as follows:
- Maintain
proper books of accounts and compile monthly financial reports
- Ensure
the banking reconciliations are properly undertaken
- Proper
management of contracts and contracts register
- Liaise
with the auditors in undertaking financial accounting and audits
- Manage
office petty cash in a transparent manner and disbursement of funds in
accordance with petty cash rules and regulations
- Prepare
and manage the payroll and statutory deductions for staff
- Control
the inventory of office assets and maintain data and update inventory
report
- Draft
correspondence on routine administrative matters
- Work
closely with Programme Manager(s) in making flight bookings and logistics
for workshops and meetings
- Supervise
the administrative staff
- Oversee
smooth office operations including maintenance and repairs
- Any
other duties as may be assigned by Supervisor.
Required Skills and Experience:
- An
CPA Stage II and relevant 3-5 years office experience would be an asset.
- Proficiency
in spoken and written English.
- 3-5
years work experience; experience in an international setting a plus;
notable experience in administration a must
- Computer
Literate; excel, Microsoft word, internet. Computer Literate; excel,
