Head Pharmacist and Medical Procurement

The ICRC Regional Logistic Centre in Nairobi (Industrial Area) is seeking an experienced & highly motivated individual to fill the Head Pharmacist and Medical Procurement position.

Responsibilities:
  • Responsible both legally and operationally for Medical quality assurance management of logistics centre;
  • Carry any pharmacist support missions or good manufacturing practice/good distribution practice audits as required;
  • Ascertain import/export status of controlled drugs, obtaining certification for import and export of drugs as legally stipulated with various government authorities;
  • Ensure that the storage of drugs, narcotics and other controlled substances is done in accordance to legal requirements;
  • In liaison with Ministry of Health, organize for the disposal of damaged and obsolete drugs;
  • Responsible to define, implement, promote and manage the logistics centre medical quality assurance according to ICRC GVA
  • HQ medical assurance policy and procedures;
  • Facilitate and participate in the organization of inspections/audit visits of manufacturers and other suppliers to conform to good manufacturing practice and good distribution practice;
  • Liaise with interlocutors for effective management of drugs supply;
  • Address, monitor and resolve quality claims;
  • Oversee the Quality control pharmacist in quality assurance;
  • Maintain supplier database and product documentation;
  • In liaison with medical procurement officer, avail technical information to the field and monitor quality and sort out claims from the field;
  • Stock management and control (check re-order levels, expiry date);
  • Responsible of all medical purchases according to quality control management;
  • Customer service and internal co-ordination in the supply chain;
Minimum Requirements:
  • Hold a Bachelor of Pharmacy Degree from a recognized university;
  • Additional Business administration and /or procurement qualification is an asset;
  • 7-10 years in Pharmaceutical experience with 3 years in Admin/purchasing with managerial and economic competence in supply of medical items;
  • Must be a registered pharmacist with the pharmacy and poisons board, Ministry of Medical Services, Republic of Kenya;
  • Must have good knowledge of MOH policies and national and international drug laws and policies;
  • Computer Literate;
  • Previous working experience with NGO’s, international charitable organisations or a Medical Logistics service provider organisation is an asset;
