Farm Manager Job in Nothern Uganda


Northern Uganda Agricultural Centre Ltd (NUAC) is seeking a dynamic and experienced Farm Manager for its large scale mechanised farm in Northern Uganda. .
 
The farm grows maize, rice and soya and is rapidly expanding from its present size of 450 hectares to a target of 1.400 hectares within the next three years.
 
The Farm Manager will take on responsibility for running all farming aspects of the operation, in conjunction with the CEO of the business, including: land preparation, maintenance of farm equipment, planting, spraying & weed control, management of 10-15 staff, harvesting, post harvest management, production planning and quality control.
 

In order to be considered for the role applicants will need to have relevant farm management experience with a solid track record and the ability to work independently.

Minimum Requirements
 

Skills
  • Higher degree in farming or related field;
  • Analytical, organised methodical person;
  • Good computer skills and working knowledge of farm management software such as Farm Works or similar program;
  • Excellent communication skills;
  • Excellent command of spoken and written English.
Experience
  • At least six years experience in a similar role;
  • Proven record in management of a mechanised farm of at least 300 hectares;
  • Proven record of staff management;
  • Proven record in budget planning and implementation;
  • Ability to operate all types of farm machinery;
  • Wide knowledge in agro chemicals and crop diseases;
  • Knowledge in crop production of cereals such as maize, upland rice and soya;
  • African working experience is required;
  • Ability to teamwork in a senior management setup.
Remuneration
 
Remuneration will be based on a base salary according to experience and a performance linked bonus related to farm targets. 

Accommodation will be provided at farm.
