Risk Manager Job in Nairobi Kenya


Position: Risk Manager (Insurance Industry)
 
Company profile: Our client a reputable leader in the General Insurance industry with operations in East Africa – Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania and Rwanda - seeks highly qualified and experienced individuals for the positions below for the Nairobi Office
 
Main purpose:
  • Assessment of risk positions and risk exposures and taking steps to manage them
  • Assessment of changes in the insurer’s risk profile
  • Assessment of pre-defined risk limits
  • Where appropriate, risk management matters in relations to strategic affairs such as corporate strategy, mergers and acquisitions and major projects and investments
  • Assessment of risk events and the identification of appropriate remedial actions
Roles and responsibilities
  • Provide specialist analysis and perform risk reviews
  • Identify the risk the insurer faces
  • Assess, aggregate, monitor & help manage & address identified risks
  • Gain and maintain an aggregated view of the risk profile of the insurer
  • Evaluate the internal and external risk environment on an on-going basis, and identify and assess potential risks as early as possible
  • Consider risks arising from remuneration arrangements/incentives
  • Conduct regular stress testing and scenario analyses
  • Report to management, board on the insurer’s risk profile and details on risk exposures facing the insurer and related mitigation actions
  • Report material changes affecting the insurers risk management system to help ensure that the framework is maintained and improved
  • Conduct regular assessments of the risk management functions and RMS, and implement or any need improvements.
Minimum Educational (or other qualifications) required
  • University Degree in related filed (insurance, risk)
  • Professional Accounting qualification i.e. CPA-K/ ACCA/ACII
  • At least three years experience in management within the insurance industry;
  • She/he must be familiar with Re-insurance accounting
  • IT proficiency- Computerized accounting system skills e.g., Orion, AIMS, Premium;
