Vacancy Announcement
The
Kenya School of Judicial Education (KSJE) is the focal point for coordinating
and conducting training of judges, judicial officers and non-judicial
staff.
With
this mandate, the School wishes to recruit results oriented individuals with
drive, vision, passion and enthusiasm to fill the following positions:
Supply Chain Officer
(1 Position)
Reporting
to both the Deputy Director, Finance and Administration and the
Director of Supply Chain Management of the Judiciary, this position will
manage the School’s supply chain management functions to ensure timely
procurement of required category items and services.
The Key Responsibilities for this role will include:
- Assisting in
determining the School’s procurement needs and developing annual, bi-annual
and quarterly procurement plans;
- Reviewing and
processing purchase requisitions from user Divisions to
ensure clarity and adequate specifications;
- Preparing
procurement transactions and providing a liaison link between
supplier and user Divisions;
- Providing
support in the negotiation of contractual agreements with suppliers
to ensure value for money;
- Ensuring that
internal customer and supplier relationships are maintained; and
- Managing the
School’s asset register and stores.
The successful candidate should have the following
qualifications:
- Bachelor’s
degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management or
other related field;
- Five (5) years
experience in Supply Chain Management in a learning
institution, publishing house or service organization with multiple
procurement requirements;
- Professional
qualification in purchasing and supplies management;
- Experience in
procurement of educational related products and services in a
large scale environment;
- Extensive
knowledge and implementation of the Procurement Act;
- Strong planning
and organizational skills.
Finance Officer
(1 Position)
Reporting
to both the Deputy Director, Finance and Administration and the
Director of Finance of the Judiciary, this position will be responsible
for budgeting, forecasting and managing the financial management systems
of the School.
The Key Responsibilities for this role will include:
- Coordinating and
preparing the School’s annual budget;
- Developing
forecasting reports and advising the School’s management on financial
trends and compliance with the Public Finance Management Act, 2012;
- Analyzing costs
and revenue drivers to support the School in it’s day to
day decisions;
- Developing and
analyzing periodic cashflows to ensure proper cash management;
- Leading the development,
implementation and improvement of the School’s financial management
systems through the design of tools, procedures and manuals; and
- Analyzing
business activities in all Divisions and developing activity tracking
and planning templates to serve as contributors in the forecasting,
budgeting and reporting process.
The successful candidate should have the following
qualifications:
- Bachelor’s
degree in Finance, Accounting or related field;
- Five (5) years
finance experience in a fast paced or rapidly growing
learning institution or medium to large organization;
- Professional
qualifications such as CPA (K), ACCA or CFA;
- Knowledge and
experience in using financial accounting systems;
- Knowledge of
current technical accounting and reporting requirements; and
- Strong problem
solving and analytical skills.
Accountant
(1 Position)
Reporting
to both the Deputy Director, Finance and Administration and the
Director of Finance of the Judiciary, this position will be responsible
for both the accounts receivable and accounts payable functions as well
the School’s overall process of expenditure.
The Key Responsibilities for this role will include:
- Conducting the
monthly financial reporting cycle;
- Conducting
accounts payables and receivable duties including but not limited
to invoicing, debt collection, payments, etc.;
- Managing the
School’s revenue collection and expenditure;
- Conducting
monthly and annual reconciliation of general ledger accounts;
- Filing of tax
returns in a timely manner; and
- Developing and
implementing internal control systems for the accounting function.
The successful candidate should have the following
qualifications:
- Bachelors degree
in Finance, Accounting or related field;
- Five (5) years
accounting experience in a fast paced or rapidly growing
learning institution or medium to large organization;
- Professional
qualifications such as CPA (K), ACCA or CFA;
- Knowledge of
current technical accounting and reporting requirements;
- Knowledge and
experience in using financial accounting systems; and
- Strong problem
solving and analytical skills.
Curriculum Development Officer
(2 Positions)
Reporting
to the Deputy Director, Judicial Education and Curriculum Development,
this position is responsible to designing and implementing the School’s
curricula for judicial education and professional training.
The Key Responsibilities for this role will include:
- Designing
multi-disciplinary judicial education and professional
training programmes and activities;
- Conducting
training needs assessments to determine the judicial education
and professional needs for various categories of trainees;
- Coordinating,
planning and managing the delivery of the various judicial
education and professional training programmes and related
activities; and
- Researching,
designing and implementing teaching techniques and
computerized applications for judicial education and professional
training;
The successful candidate should have the following
qualifications:
- Bachelors degree
in Law, Education or other related field;
- Five (5) years
experience as a lecturer or law practitioner writing
curriculum/instructional materials for adults;
- Expert knowledge
and experience in adult learning principles and
curriculum development;
- Strong written
and verbal communication skills; and
- Ability to be
creative and innovative.
Professional Development Officer
(1 Position)
Reporting
to the Deputy Director, Judicial Education and Curriculum Development,
this position is responsible for monitoring and evaluating the impact of
the various training initiatives and overseeing career management and
planning within the Judiciary.
The Key Responsibilities for this role will include:
- Developing
comprehensive overall monitoring and evaluation tools and frameworks,
including performance indicators and benchmarks;
- Monitoring and
evaluating the training programs developed and delivered by
the School;
- Developing and
maintaining the programs calendar for the various trainings
and initiatives taking place within the School;
- Developing and
implementing career management and planning initiatives for Judicial
Officers and Judicial staff; and
- Maintaining and
updating the continuous judicial education and professional training
records for judges, judicial officers and non-judicial staff.
The successful candidate should have the following
qualifications:
- Bachelors degree
in Law, Education or other related field;
- Five (5) years
experience in a professional development including monitoring
and evaluation;
- Expert knowledge
of professional development as well as monitoring and evaluation
principles;
- Strong written
and verbal communication skills; and
- Strong planning
and organizing skills.
