Our client, a fast growing beauty chain is looking for a Finance Manager.

Job Description

Job Purpose

To manage staff accountants and the Accounting departments as they relate to the financial reporting and transactional accounting of the company. 

Applies principles of accounting to analyze financial information and prepare financial reports. 

Accomplishes tasks with particular emphasis on customer service and seeks to add value to the company’s shareholders.

Co-ordinate the monthly management accounts and prepares reports to the executive committee and the Board. Take the lead role in advising the Board on technical accounting and financial reporting issues.

Principal Accountabilities:

Management
  • Maintain a documented system of accounting policies and procedures
  • Manage outsourced functions
  • Oversee the operations of the finance department, including the design of an organizational structure adequate for achieving the department's goals and objectives
  • Ensure seamless co-ordination and co-operation between Finance and Operations to facilitate the fast growth of the company
Funds Management
  • Forecast cash flow positions, related borrowing needs, and available funds for investment
  • Ensure that sufficient funds are available to meet ongoing operational and capital investment requirements
  • Ensure that appropriate financial regulations and controls are in place and in use at all times.
  • Maintain banking relationships
  • Assist in determining the company's proper capital structure
  • Participate in arranging for financing and maintaining investor relationships
  • Invest funds
  • Manage day to day financial control within budget
  • Ensure that all finances are properly administered and monitored, including credit control.
  • Act as cheque signatory for and authorize expenditure up to limits as agreed by management
Budgets and Reporting
  • Report to management on variances from the established budget, and the reasons for those variances
  • Assist management in the formulation of its overall strategic direction
Financial Analysis
  • Engage in ongoing cost reduction analyses in all areas of the company
  • Review the performance of competitors and report on key issues to management
  • Engage in benchmarking studies with Operations to establish areas of potential operational improvement
  • Interpret the company's financial results to management and recommend improvement activities
  • Review company bottlenecks with Operations and recommend changes to improve the overall level of company throughput
  • Participate in target costing activities to create products that meet predetermined price goals
  • Assist in the determination of product pricing in relation to features offered and competitor pricing
  • Compile key business metrics and report on them to management
  • Manage the capital budgeting process, based on constraint analysis and discounted cash flow analysis
Staff management
  • Ensure, delegating as appropriate, that each service location is adequately managed, staffed and resourced.
  • Overview of Policies and Procedures, Employment, Volunteer and Internship Agreements.
Additional Accountabilities:
  • Oversee the extension of credit to customers
Required Qualification, Knowledge and Experience
  • Knowledge of finance, accounting, audit, budgeting, and cost control principles including IFRSs.
  • Experience in ERP/CRM Financial Consulting
  • Ability to analyze financial data and prepare financial reports, statements and projections:
  • This is normally acquired through a combination of the completion of a Bachelor's Degree in Finance/Accounting, three to five years of accounting experience and successful completion of ACCA/CPA exams.
  • Work requires willingness to work a flexible schedule
  • Leadership and Negotiation skills are a must.
  • Experience working in a Franchise is a plus.
