Announcement of Vacancy
(Re-advertisement)
A. Requirements for Appointment
A
person shall be qualified for appointment as the Chairperson of the Commission
if the person:
(i) Has
knowledge and at least fifteen years experience in matters relating to law and
human rights;
(ii)
Holds a degree from a university recognized in Kenya; and
(iii)
Meets the requirements of Chapter Six of the Constitution.
B. A person shall not be qualified for appointment as the
Chairperson if such person:
(i) Is
a Member of Parliament or a County Assembly;
(ii) Is
a Member of a Local Authority;
(iii)
Is a undischarged bankrupt; or
(iv)
Has been removed from office for contravening the provisions of the
Constitution or any other law.
C. Tenure of Office for Chairperson
The
Chairperson of the Commission shall be appointed for a single term of six years
and is not eligible for re-appointment.
D. Terms of Service for Chairperson
(i)
Full-time;
(ii)
Shall not hold any other office or employment for profit whether public or
private; and
(iii)
Remuneration and benefits will be as set by the Salaries and Remuneration
Commission.
E. Applicants should attach copies of clearance certificates
from:-
(i) The
Kenya Revenue Authority;
(ii)
The Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission;
(iii)
The Credit Reference Bureau Africa Limited or Metropol Credit Reference Bureau
Limited ;
(iv)
The Higher Education Loans Board (HELB); and
(v)
Professional bodies they are affiliated to.
