FH / Kenya (Food for the Hungry, Kenya) a Christian relief and development agency seeks to fill the following vacant positions in Isiolo Office.

Post Title: Treatment Coordinator
 

Reporting To: Program Manager
 
Contract Period: Two Years Contract
 
Duty Station: Isiolo (with frequent Visit to Tumaini clinic Marsabit and Gatina clinic in Nairobi)

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Provide support Supervision to the FH supported clinics staff in their medical care service provision.
  • Provide comprehensive Monthly and quarterly reports for the FH supported clinics.
  • Ensure the FH supported clinics have adequate regular medical  supplies.
  • Maintain regular communications and meetings with FH supported clinics donors and report on the progress and achievements of the clinics.
  • Participate in regular coordination meetings between FH and other partners.
  • Coordinate linkages and referral between the FH supported clinics and community projects in FH.
  • Participate in building the capacity of the FH partners according to the need.
  • Provide on Job mentorship to clinical officers in the FH supported clinics to provide care and treatment services.
  • Complete Medical Screening form for every new patient enrolled in Tumaini Isiolo clinic.
  • Complete Medical Follow-up form for every return patient in Tumaini Isiolo clinic
  • Order appropriate lab tests for patient in Tumaini Isiolo clinic
  • Prescribe antiretroviral medications for patient in Tumaini Isiolo clinic
  • Manage adverse effects due to medications for patient in Tumaini Isiolo clinic
  • Manage second-line antiretroviral therapy for patient in Tumaini Isiolo clinic
Qualifications/Experience (Minimum)
  • Diploma in Clinical Medicine.
  • Basic Training on HIV and AIDs
  • Two years working experience in a comprehensive Care centre.
  • Must be a computer literate and well conversant with MS and Excel Ms.

Position: Social Worker Officer (Based in Tumaini Clinic -  Marsabit)

Reporting To: Senior Nurse

Specific Duties
  • Screen patients for HAART protocol  and social support
  • Complete Social Work Screening form for patients in the HAART Protocol
  • Conducts home assessments for patient’s lost to follow up and those requiring a home visit.
  • Maintain accurate and up to date records of lost follow up, in coordination with the data officer.
  • Responsible for the management and tracking of all cases which are lost to follow up for the purpose of reducing the amount.
  • Identify and build relationships with various HIV/AIDS support, home based care and social service organizations throughout Kenya, maintain records of such relationships and make patient referrals accordingly.
  • Work with Nutritionist to identify most needy cases for supplemental nutritional support
  • Write reports with respect to department activities weekly, monthly or as required
  • Coordinate posttest club activities and facilitate weekly meetings, in coordination with counselors.
Qualifications / Experience (Minimum)
  • Diploma in community health, social worker, community worker, counseling, or above
  • Minimum of 2 years in community work especially on HIV and AIDS programs
  • Trained on HIV  and AIDS Management, VCT/HTC,
  • Computer literate especially MS Word and MS Excel
  • Must be able to speak any of the local languages in Marsabit county.

Position: Nursing Officer 

(Based in Tumaini Medical Clinic - Marsabit)

Reporting To: Clinical Officer In-Charge
 
Specific Duties
  • Assess patients and clients and establish health care needs daily and as necessary.
  • Plan health care interventions daily and as necessary, and implement.
  • Diagnose simple common health conditions, prescribe, and administer treatment.
  • Provide appropriate healthcare service; e.g. immunization, PMTCT, ante-natal care, administration of treatment, dispensing drugs, etc.
  • Provide health education and counseling to patients and clients on identified health problems and socio-economic issues related to their health.
  • Refer patients and clients appropriately.
  • Evaluate healthcare outcomes to patients/clients and write individualized report.
  • Maintain records on patients/clients personal and health condition/care data.
  • Keep clinical environment tidy and safe.
  • Ensure efficiency and safety of assigned nursing commodities.
Qualifications/Experience (Minimum)
  • Hold a Diploma or a Degree in Registered Nursing/ midwife from a recognized nursing training institution and in possession of a registration certificate issued by the Nursing Council of Kenya
  • Is in good professional standing with the Nursing Council of Kenya
  • At least two years’ experience working in and HIV and AIDS comprehensive Care Centre (CCC).
  • Additional training as VCT/HTC counselor, Nutrition and Computer literacy will be added advantage.
  • Ability to speak any of the local languages within Marsabit County is a must.
