Lutheran World Federation/Department for World Service Kenya-Djibouti
Programme is seeking to recruit a qualified professional preferably from a
registered soap making institution for 1 month (September 2012) for the
following position, to be based in Ali Addeh refugee camp, Djibouti.
Soap Making Trainer
The
purpose of this position is to equip refugees in Ali Addeh camp with soap
making skills that enable them improve their levels of income.
Duties and Responsibilities will include but are not limited to:
- Conduct an
Environmental Impact Assessment of soap making in Ali Addeh refugee camp
and compile a report on the same.
- Advise on the
learning materials required for the training and subsequent continuation
of the project- facilitating the procurement of soap making materials.
- Plan and deliver
Soap Making course outline/programme (liquid or solid) to selected groups
in the refugee camps.
- Develop session
plans
- Supervise the
Soap Making practical on a day to day basis to ensure that the agreed upon
standards are met
- Supervise the
production of the agreed upon quantity and quality of the soap as a pilot
project
- Participate and
work cooperatively within a team environment.
- Maintain learner
attendance and records of progress towards skills development
- Prepare weekly
situational reports of the training
Person Specifications/Qualifications:
- Relevant
training in Soap Making
- At least 2 years
of experience in soap making
- Well developed
presentation and communication skills and Demonstrated initiative and self
motivation.
- Well developed
organizational skills.
- Working
knowledge of Somali language required as well as the willingness to live
and work in a refugee camp
- Approachable and
sensitive to the needs of learners and driven by a strong commitment to
high quality training.
