General Manager Job. Salary K'sh 100,000

Our client is an established travel and safari company in the country located in Nairobi’s central business district. The company specializes in corporate and individual travel, inbound and outbound tours and safaris; hotel bookings; transport and conferences.

share. We are therefore seeking applications from candidates who are immediately available to fill the following position:
 
General Manager (Salary Kshs.100,000/= dependent on skills and experience)

This role is responsible for the smooth functioning of an entire organization and its branches. The role holder reports directly to the CEO and is expected to oversee both commercial and operational aspects of the company whilst create a positive working environment.
The job holder will undertake the following key responsibilities:
Establish, develop and direct the marketing and sales strategies and activities of the organization to maximize the company’s revenue
Drive campaigns and business development activity to meet profitability targets
Collaborate with other colleagues to ensure prompt resolution of operational issues
Monitor adherence of internal controls within the business and take appropriate action on non-conformance in accordance to company procedures
Proactively research competitive threats/opportunities and stay abreast of offerings from the competition
Effective resource management/planning for current and future business requirements
The successful candidate must possess the following minimum criteria and personal qualities:
Bachelor Degree preferably in Business Administration and/or other related business fields
Minimum 5yrs middle/senior management experience gained within the travel industry
Prior experience and track record of delivering results in a senior position within the Travel Industry
High administrative and organizational skills: able to manage time, plan effectively, and set and achieve goals.
Superior leadership skills: of self and others with the ability to work with people of all backgrounds
Team player, focused on creating synergies within the team and influencing the team towards a common purpose.
Thorough knowledge of the dynamics and sensitivities within the travel industry
Excellent client relationship management skills
Hands on Marketing skills in the Travel industry
Remarkable ability to exercise judgment and discretion in translating broad company goals into specific objectives which incorporate the organization's vision.
Excellent ability to deal effectively with situations that are often ill-defined and where information is may be difficult to obtain.
