Our client, a global telecommunication corporation that provides communications solutions to service providers is looking to fill the position of Compensation and Benefits Manager, for a region covering operations in Sub-Sahara Africa and the Islands.
Reporting to the HR Director, the Compensation and Benefits Manager will be responsible and accountable for the interpretation and implementation of remuneration and benefit strategies and best practices to ensure the fair and equitable remuneration of employees across the operating region, ensuring procedures and practices are in line with legislative requirements and supportive of the Company’s goals, objectives and financial ability.
Key Accountabilities for this role include:
Develop remuneration and benefit strategies for the region that remain within global guidelines, create regional harmonisation for easy transfer of employees and incorporate local practices to keep the business competitive and able to attract, reward and retain talent.
Conduct and/or participate in market analysis and remuneration benchmarking in the operating region and draft and present proposals for review with leadership within the HR function and management as appropriate, for approval. Implement approved proposals within agreed timelines.
Drive and manage annual remuneration review process, and provide guidance, training and support to country business and HR managers on the annual increase and incentive processes.Develop remuneration and benefit strategies for the region that remain within global guidelines, create regional harmonisation for easy transfer of employees and incorporate local practices to keep the business competitive and able to attract, reward and retain talent.
Conduct and/or participate in market analysis and remuneration benchmarking in the operating region and draft and present proposals for review with leadership within the HR function and management as appropriate, for approval. Implement approved proposals within agreed timelines.
Conduct periodic remuneration audits in the various operating countries to confirm compliance with local legislation, established practices and procedures and company policy. Address gaps identified quickly and thoroughly to avoid repeat incidences.
Ensure efficient management of the remuneration function, monitor and enhance current service provision, minimise costs work closely with country business and HR managers to provide timely and effective query resolution around remuneration and benefit issues.
Create and execute forums to educate and equip HR teams and line managers in the organisations operating environments on total reward management policies, initiatives, emerging market trends and best practices
Manage the payroll process. Administer payroll for all countries in the operating region and bring on line new payrolls as the organization expands into new countries within Sub Sahara Africa.
Our client is currently going through a major project to bring all payrolls onto a single platform centralized in Nairobi. This is a significant and immediate KPI for this role
Position Requirements
The successful candidate will:
Have a minimum of 6 years solid human resource management experience with significant focus on remuneration. Must have working knowledge of computerised payroll systems, labour and employee tax legislation and statutory payroll requirements. Experience running regional payrolls and handling expatriate payroll will be a significant advantage.
Be highly numerate with a strong affinity for numbers, analytical, able to develop scenarios’, with sound business and financial acumen
Be highly computer literate with advanced excel / spreadsheet manipulation skills.
Be independent and mature, with a very strong service orientation, able to work effectively with diverse groups people at all levels in virtual, multi-country matrix relationships.
Have good projects management skills with the demonstrated ability to bring projects on line within scope, budget and timelines.
Have excellent report writing and presentation skills.
Be confident, highly organized, time-conscious, detail-oriented, accurate, and have a demonstrated concern for quality.
Be as seasoned team leader able to grow the skill and competence of the team, and monitor the quality of work and service delivery to the delight of customers.
Be a graduate, with certification in financial, accounting or human resource discipline.
Experience in the telecommunications industry will be a considerable advantage

Remuneration: The starting salary for this position will be KShs 250,000 gross per month, plus benefits. The package is negotiable dependant on experience and demonstrable contribution.
