Due to expansion, we are recruiting to fill the position below:

Job Title: Field Engineer

Locations: Enugu, Anambra and Imo



Employment Type: Fixed Term

Job Scope 

  • Planning & Scheduling Route planning: Create daily/weekly installation schedules for field teams based on customer list, geography, and priority zones.
  • Material planning: Ensure correct number of smart meters, CTs, seals, cables, and tools are issued to each installer team.
  • Customer notification: Send SMS/calls/appointments to customers about installation date and requirements.
  • Oversight Team deployment: Assign installers and supervisors to specific locations and monitor their movement. 
  • Quality control: Spot-check installations to ensure compliance with NERC, utility, and manufacturer standards. Check wiring, sealing, and commissioning.
  • Safety compliance: Ensure PPE, lock-out/tag-out, and safety procedures are followed on site.
  • Customer & Stakeholder Management Customer education: Explain benefits of smart meters, tariff structure, and how to read/operate the meter to customers.
  • Issue resolution: Handle complaints during installation - no power, wrong location, tenant/landlord issues.
  • Liaison: Coordinate with distribution engineers, customer service, marketing, and community leaders to reduce resistance
  • Data & System Management/AMI data entry: Capture meter serial numbers, GPS coordinates, customer details, and photos into the billing system/MDMS after each install.
  • Job completion tracking: Update dashboard with % completion, failed installs, and reasons for failure
  • Report generation: Submit daily, weekly, and monthly reports on installations, rejections, and material usage to management.
  • Stock control: Track meters issued vs meters installed vs meters returned/defective.
  • Seal and asset accountability: Account for all seals, meters, and old analog meters removed.
  • Defective handling: Coordinate return and testing of faulty meters.
  • Compliance & Administration/MAP compliance: Ensure installations follow Meter Asset Provider and NERC MAP regulations for Nigeria, or local regulator standards. 
  • Documentation: Collect signed job cards, customer consent forms, and proof of installation.
  • Performance monitoring: Track installer KPIs: installs per day, first-time success rate, customer satisfaction.

Key KPIs for this Role Installation

  • Target Achievement – % of monthly target met 
  • First-Time Install Success Rate - % without callbacks 
  • Data Accuracy - % of meters correctly captured in MDMS 
  • Customer Complaints - number per 100 installs 
  • Safety Incidents – zero tolerance.

Qualifications & Skills 

  • BSc / HND in Electrical Engineering or related fields
  • Strong problem solving, technical, math and science skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication.
  • Experience in crises management  
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
