Job Summary
The Pulpit Operator is responsible for overseeing and controlling automated processes from the pulpit control room to ensure efficient and safe production in a steel or metal manufacturing environment.
This role involves monitoring equipment, adjusting process parameters, and coordinating with production teams to maintain high-quality output and operational efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
Process Monitoring & Control:
Operate and monitor control panel systems to manage production processes.
Adjust parameters such as speed, temperature, and material flow to optimize operations.
Detect and respond to alarms, process deviations, and equipment malfunctions.
Ensure smooth coordination of different sections of the production line.
Safety & Compliance:
Adhere to company safety protocols and industry regulations.
Monitor and enforce compliance with environmental and safety standards.
Report any safety hazards or incidents to supervisors promptly.
Quality Assurance & Production Efficiency:
Ensure that production meets quality standards and specifications.
Work closely with quality control teams to address defects or inconsistencies.
Minimize downtime by proactively addressing process inefficiencies.
Equipment Maintenance & Reporting:
Perform routine checks on control systems and report any anomalies.
Coordinate with maintenance teams for preventive and corrective maintenance.
Maintain accurate records of production data, process parameters, and incidents.
Collaboration & Communication:
Communicate effectively with machine operators, supervisors, and maintenance personnel.
Provide detailed shift handover reports to ensure seamless production continuity.
Participate in training programs to stay updated on process advancements.
Qualifications & Experience
High School Diploma or equivalent; technical training in industrial operations is a plus.
3+ years of experience in a pulpit operator or similar role in the steel or metal industry.
Strong knowledge of automated control systems, PLCs, and industrial process controls.
Familiarity with manufacturing safety standards and quality procedures.
Excellent problem-solving, multitasking, and analytical skills.
