Position: International Recruiter (Nairobi)
 
Reporting to: Director for HR, Learning and Development

Company Profile: 
Our client is an independent NGO providing relief worldwide.
 
Job Profile / Purpose: The Recruiter will be responsible for specific outreach, recruitment and selection activities of all international vacancies in country offices, leading to a decision whether a candidate should be accepted.
 
Key Duties and Responsibilities: 
 

Recruitment
  • Screen applications for general and technical qualifications specific to post to which candidate applied
  • Ensure screened applicants complete technical tests prior to interviews
  • Conduct HR interviews to evaluate each candidate’s general qualifications, specific competencies (eg: management skills, cultural awareness, ability to adapt to new environments) and motivation to work with a humanitarian organization
  • Post Job Announcements and Job Descriptions on job boards and social media sites
  • Review existing vacancies at least once a week, with Senior HR Officer (Senior HRO), to prioritize recruitment activities and identify which positions need to be filled most urgently
  • Complete reference checks
Selection data and tools
  • Analyze recruitment, selection data and input on recruitment strategies, for both individual vacancies and more globally, to respond to identified trends
  • Maintain a library/list of effective interview behavioral-based questions; ensure that whenever these are updated they are shared with the Senior HROs
  • Enter all details of validated candidates into the HRIS. Ensure CVs and recruitment summaries are uploaded and that all other information is accurately captured
Other responsibilities
  • Research the regional and international NGO and development markets to identify additional opportunities for job postings.
  • Represent the organization at HR meetings when necessary
  • For all outreach activities, prepare and monitor individual annual budgets
  • Complete other duties as assigned by the Director for HR, Learning & Development
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • Knowledge of MS Office suite, including proficiency in excel
  • Must have experience working with an HRIS, extracting and analyzing data to identify general trends
  • Ability to take initiative and prioritize multiple tasks with minimal supervision
  • Strong organizational skills and detail oriented
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills essential
  • Fluent written/spoken English and preferably fluent written/spoken French
  • Must be authorized to work in the Kenya or a Kenyan citizen
Qualifications and Experience Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s degree in human resources, learning and development, international studies or a related field
  • At least 3 years of experience as a human resources generalist or recruiter
  • Previous field experience in a human resources role with an international NGO
  • Certified member of Kenya’s organization for HR professionals
