The African
Economic Research Consortium (AERC) is a not-for-profit Pan-African
institution, dedicated for the last 25 years to enabling the advancement of
economic policy research and training in Africa.
AERC has its
offices in Nairobi, Kenya.
AERC has since
March 2011, partnered with the World Food Program (WFP) to establish and run a
Data Analysis and Knowledge Management Hub (known as “the Hub”) in support of
the Purchase for Progress (P4P) programme.
The partnership
intended to secure high quality M&E technical support for WFP’s Purchase
for Progress programme.
The Hub supports
collection and analysis of all quantitative data generated by the M&E
system in 17 countries in Africa and Latin America under the P4P pilot.
The Hub mandate
falls within four areas:
i) supporting
countries in data collection,
ii) cleaning
data received from country offices,
iii) data
analysis, and
iv) reporting.
AERC is seeking
outstanding people to fill the following position which will be based in
Nairobi.
Data Analysts
(3 Positions)
Duties and Responsibilities
Under the
overall supervision of the Project Manager, the key tasks will be to:
- Ensure the quality and integrity of country level survey data
- Manage, analyse and interpret country level survey data
- Prepare presentations and draft reports from the summarised data
- Act as a contact person between M&E, and data entry and cleaning experts in order to support technical improvements in data collection and management
- Assist in training of enumerators to elicit accurate and reliable data
- Assist the IT officer in the maintenance of the data portal and protect its security.
- To be considered for this position, you must meet the following minimum requirements and experience.
- Master in Economics, Agricultural Economics or related discipline;
- At least 3 years of relevant experience in collection, compilation and analysis of data, ideally covering food security and small holder farmers issues;
- Excellent knowledge of use of econometric tools and statistical software especially SPSS, STATA and Excel;
- Experience in compilation, analysis and evaluation of food and agriculture statistics;
- Demonstrated analytical skills and ability to work with minimum supervision.
