Department of Immigration.
Immigration Officer II
Two Hundred (200) Posts
V/NO. 001/2014
Basic salary: Kshs.24,662 - Kshs.29,918 p.m.
(Job Group “J”)
Allowances
i. House
Allowance: Kshs.6,000/- p.m. if working in Nairobi but varies if deployed in
other stations.
ii. Commuter
Allowance: at the rate of Kshs.4,000/- p.m. and;
iii. Leave
Allowance: KShs.4,000/- p.a.
For appointment
to this grade, a candidate must have:
(i) Served in
the Civil Service at a position graded at Job Group ‘J’, Job Group ‘H’, or Job
Group ‘G’;
(ii) A
Bachelor’s degree in any of the following disciplines: Public Administration,
Sociology, Information Technology, Economics, Business Administration,
Anthropology, Public Policy and Administration, International Relations,
Government/political Science, Criminology, History, Education, linguistics,
Communication Studies, human Resource Management and Psychology from a
University recognized in Kenya; and
(iii) A
Certificate in Computer application from a recognized institution.
Duties and Responsibilities
This is the entry
and training grade for this cadre. An officer at this level will work under the
guidance of a senior and experienced officer.
Duties and responsibilities include:-
(i) Receiving,
verifying and recording applications for processing of passports, permits,
residence certificates, alien certificates, visa, visitor’s passes citizenship
and Conventional Travel Document (CTD) for refugees and any other travel
document;
(ii) Receiving
applications and determining eligibility for entry into and exit out of Kenya;
(iii) Profiling
persons entering or leaving border points;
(iv) Capturing
and entering data;
(v) Undertaking
border patrols to control entry of illegal immigrants;
(vi) Gathering
basic information for investigations of immigration related offences; and
(vii) Attending
to simple complaints and inquiries on immigration issues.
