Project Officer and Extension Officer at Yala Swamp
Nature Kenya
(the East Africa Natural History Society) is a membership Society established
in 1909 to promote the study and conservation of nature in eastern Africa.
Nature Kenya
invites applications for the positions of Project Officer and Project Extension
Officer for a project “Balancing Development and Conservation in Kenya’s
Largest Freshwater” funded by Darwin Initiative.
In this project
Nature Kenya will work with government conservation agencies/institutions,
local communities, and private companies to promote sustainable land management
in the Yala Swamp.
Both vacancies
are annual contract positions renewable for a maximum of three years and are
based at Yala Swamp in Siaya County
Roles and responsibilities
The Project Officer: managing staff, coordinating field
activities, and reporting
Required Qualifications:
Graduate in a
relevant Natural Resource Management field; 5 years relevant field (including
project management) experience and field technical skills; flavour for policy,
advocacy and networking; excellent inter-personal and communication skills;
computer literate;
The Project extension officer: community mobilization, extension and
training
Required Qualifications:
Graduate in a
relevant Natural Resource Management field; at least 2 years relevant field
(including extension services) experience and field technical skills including
community mobilisation and participatory appraisals; excellent inter-personal
and communication skills; computer literate
