Administrative Assistant
The Solidarity
Center’s mission is to help build a global labor movement by strengthening the
economic and political power of workers around the world through effective,
independent, and democratic unions.
This is
primarily a support position for both Program and Financial staff with their
day- to-day activities.
Main Duties and responsibilities:
- Manage the front office
- Maintain an electronic diary of the Country Programs Director for the implementation of regional programs.
- Maintain the office electronic share drive
- Assist in production of well-written reports as needed
- Maintain office files & documentation
- Order and maintain office supplies
- Coordinate office travel arrangements
- Other duties assigned by the senior staff
Qualifications & Experience:
The
Administrative Assistant must have a higher diploma in Business Management
studies, or related fields and/or at least five (5) years equivalent work
experience.
The candidate
must be highly proficient in Microsoft office
computer programs and capable of managing multiple assignments
simultaneously.
Ability to
conduct internet research and excellent communication and writing skills in
English and verbal skills in Kiswahili are required.
French and/or
Arabic language skills will be an added advantage.
Proven ability
to work well within a team as well as independently is also important.
Office Driver
The key roles
for this position will be:
- Provides safe, transport services for staff while discharging their official duties
- Keep the vehicle ready, clean and on standby – ready for use at all times
- Assist as required, with logistics, program and admin functions in the office
- Cooperate and be of assistance to staff and visitors whenever necessary
- Report all maintenance needs of the vehicle to F & A Head on a regular basis
- Other duties as assigned by the CPD
Qualifications & Experience:
- A minimum of C grade in Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education qualification
- Mature and with over 7 years’ experience in a similar role
- Proven experience in driving executives, expatriates and high ranking individuals
- Good command of written and spoken English and Kiswahili Languages
- Should have a clean driving license Class BCE
- Should have a valid Certificate of Good Conduct from the Kenya Police
- Must respect and adhere to all safety and traffic rules
- Extensive Knowledge of routings in Kenya is required
- Ability to work on weekends when necessary
- Reliable, flexible and a committed person
- Basic Motor Vehicle Mechanic and First Aid courses will be an added advantage
