We work in
institutions and communities where vulnerable children experiencing different
challenges are present multiple challenges; hospitals, differently-able
children centers, remand homes, rehabilitation centers, rescue centers and
youth prisons.
On a regular
basis, we visit these locations and provide meaningful interaction to these
vulnerable children to distract them from their challenges while enabling them
to learn and develop new abilities.
The Position
We are recruiting
a creative individual who will be working closely with and will be part of a
team of artists under the supervision of our Field Manager.
This is a
NON-TEACHING job that entails adaptation and development of materials for
children with physical and mental challenges.
Our objective is
to involve these children in our tailor made edutainment program.
This job provides
the holder with an opportunity to work with vulnerable children in
multiple-locations alongside a team of artists who use art in bringing smiles
in children’s faces.
Key Tasks and
Responsibilities
·
Design and implement activities for children with physical and
mental challenges as well as other vulnerable children and youth.
·
Provide other team members (creative assistants) with guidance
and necessary knowledge on how to work with children with physical and mental
challenges.
·
Planning for, preparing and availing a variety of materials and
resources for children with physical and mental challenges to explore,
manipulate, and use, both in learning activities and imaginative play.
·
Assist the Field Manager in establishing and enforce rules for
behaviour and upholding of policies and procedures for working with special
needs children.
·
Instructing and monitoring special needs children/youth in the
use and care of equipment and materials, in order to prevent injuries and
damage.
·
Keeping an inventory of project equipment, creative materials,
and other Project supplies.
·
Collecting (Observing and interviewing) data and information on
activity, compiling into necessary written and verbal reports-including own
feedback- and submitting this to the Field Manager.
·
Providing regular plans and reports as required by the Field
Manager according to format and time.
·
Collaborating with other Creative Assistants in the development,
evaluation, and revision of programs.
Knowledge and
Experience - Professional Qualification and Work Experience
·
Diploma or degree qualification in special children’s education.
·
Knowledge of early childhood development with emphasis for
special needs children aged 2-13 years and child protection framework.
·
1 years experience in working with children with special needs.
·
Experience working with art and artist will be a great
advantage.
·
Preferably aged below 30 years old.

Have a passion for working with children,

Be a self starter Committed to networking with other
institutions supporting children with special needs
·
Flexible and Capable of working with people of diverse skill
levels.
·
