The Regional Centre for Mapping of Resources for Development
(RCMRD) is an Intergovernmental organization which provides services in
surveying, mapping, remote sensing GIS and ICT to its Member States, partners
and clients. It currently has nineteen Member States in the Eastern and
Southern Africa region.
RCMRD is implementing SERVIR Africa project in collaboration
with NASA with funding from USAID.
We wish to fill the following vacant positions in SERVIR Africa
project.
1. Monitoring
and Evaluation Officer
Duties and responsibilities:
·
The Monitoring and Evaluation Officer will be responsible for
the following duties:
·
Lead the design and implementation of a monitoring framework and
information system to track delivery against SERVIR / RCMRD goals and
objectives;
·
Lead the analysis phase of selected indicators under the
monitoring framework for assessment of progress and impact;
·
Build awareness of M&E approach and train staff to execute
monitoring and evaluation framework
·
Provide management and key stakeholders regular updated reports
on the status of program implementation against goals and objectives;
Qualifications:
·
Master’s degree in statistics, mathematics, international
development, or a related social science field.
·
At least five years of work experience in the field of
monitoring and evaluation with a particular emphasis on natural resource
management, conservation, biodiversity, climate change.
·
Skills in database design, management, and analysis are
essential.
Contract Duration: One (1) year renewable.
2. Grants
Manager
Overall management duties include:
·
Managing overall program grant implementation to ensure proposal
and budget feasibility and grant activity schedule, equipment and material
procurement and delivery and construction standards are upheld as outlined in
RCMRD Grants Manual and USAID regulations.
·
Participating in grantee and procurement selection committees
and processes.
·
Managing procurement processes for all grant activities,
including determining procurement requirements.
·
Managing monitoring of grant activities during the
implementation cycle to ensure delivery and disposition of goods and services.
·
Conducting final review and close out of grant activities.
Qualifications
·
University degree in Finance, Project Management or Economics or
relevant field.
·
Five years of progressively responsible professional experience
·
Experience working with USAID and USAID funded small grants
programs will be an added advantage.
Contract Duration: One (1) year renewable.
3. Communication
& Outreach Expert
Responsibilities
·
Developing and managing a strategy for the production and
dissemination of a wide array of information and communications through various
means,
·
Regularly updating the contents of SERVIR-Africa and RCMRD web
pages,
·
Writing news articles based on current events, earth observation
research, and RCMRD/SERVIR Africa activities,
·
Establishing links with environmental journalists, and media and
maintain with the media for outreach purposes,
·
Preparing press releases and briefs for local and international
media coverage,
·
Preparing the Newsletter of RCMRD in collaboration with the
Director General’s office
Qualifications
·
A Bachelor’s degree in Communication, Journalism, IT or
Environmental with a diverse experience in all facets of communications.
·
A minimum of three years of experience in the area of
communication.
·
Possession of strong writing and editing skills and
organizational abilities.
·
Demonstrated knowledge of good of environmental, economic, and
social issues.
·
Strong computer and Web skills are necessary. Fluency or working
knowledge of French is an advantage.
·
Knowledge of GIS and Earth Observation and operations will be an
added advantage.
Contract Duration: One (1)
year renewable.
