The Geothermal
Development Company (GDC) is a 100% state-owned company with the mandate to
fast track development of geothermal resources.
The candidates
will be responsible for undertaking surface exploration and working on drill
rigs in sites including Magadi, Suswa, Bogoria, Arus, Lake Baringo, Chyulu,
Mwananyamala, Homa Hills, Menengai,
Barrier, Namarunu, Emuruangogolak, Silali, Korosi, Paka, Badlands and Chepchuk.
The ideal
candidates should be able to work in camping environments in remote areas and
have the following attributes: team player, high integrity, excellent
communication and interpersonal skills, flexible and willing to work long
hours.
Graduate Trainees - Engineers
(Age: 21-25
years)
Trainee Engineer, Mechanical
Ref: GDC/HR/07/13/GT/EM
Reporting to the
Rig Drilling Engineer, responsibilities will include; providing mechanical
engineering support in all rig drilling operations, execution of drilling
programs, repair and maintenance of rigs and associated equipment safety and
offering logistical support in drilling operations.
Qualifications:
BSc in
Mechanical Engineering (Upper 2nd Class Hons.)
Trainee Engineer, Electrical

Reporting to the
Rig Maintenance Engineer, key responsibilities will include; carrying out
electrical repair and maintenance of rigs and associated plants for drilling
operations, engineering support in all rig drilling operations, execution of
drilling programs, safety and providing logistical support in drilling
operations
Qualifications:
- BSc in Electrical Engineering (Upper 2nd Class Hons).
Trainee Engineer, Steamfield

The Trainee will
report to the Senior Engineer, Steamfield.
Qualifications:
BSc in
Chemical/Mechatronics Engineering (Upper 2nd Class Hons).
Graduate Trainees – Scientists
(Age 21-25
years)
Trainee Geologist

The Trainee will
report to the Senior Geologist.
Qualifications:
- BSc in Geology (Upper 2nd Class Hons)
Trainee Geophysicist

The Trainee will
report to the Senior Geophysicist.
Qualifications:
- BSc in Geology (Upper 2nd Class Hons)
- Must have also taken physics units in the undergraduate studies
Trainee Geochemist
Ref: GDC/HR/07/13/GT/GC:
The Trainee will
report to the Senior Geochemist.
Qualifications:
- BSc in Geology (Upper 2nd Class Hons)
- Must have also taken chemistry units in the undergraduate studies.
- Those pursuing MSc (Numerical methods & fluid thermodynamics based projects) will an added advantage.

Technician III, Mechanical

Reporting to Rig
Maintenance Engineer (Mechanical - Plant Option), key responsibilities will
include; carrying out of scheduled and corrective maintenance of rigs,
auxiliary equipment and plants.
Qualifications:
A National
Diploma in Mechanical/Automotive/Plant Engineering with at least three (3)
years’ experience in civil equipment, plant and vehicles maintenance in a busy
engineering function and should be computer literate.
Technician III, Electrical
Ref: GDC/HR/07/13/DO/TE
Reporting to Rig
Maintenance Engineer (Electrical), key responsibilities will include; carrying
out of day-to-day maintenance of rigs and associated plants and making them
available for drilling operations as well as executing corrective and scheduled
maintenance operations.
Qualifications:
A National
Diploma in Electrical/Automotive/Plant Engineering with at least three (3)
years’ experience in plant maintenance in a busy engineering function and
should be computer literate.
Technician III, Reservoir
Ref: GDC/HR/07/13/IN/TR
Reporting to the
Reservoir Engineer, key responsibilities will include carrying out well
measurements, instrument calibration, fabrication, well discharge testing and
repair & maintenance of well testing and measurement equipment/instruments.
Qualifications:
A National
Diploma in Electrical & Electronics Engineering/Power
Systems/Instrumentation & Control Engineering with at least three (3)
years’ experience in a busy engineering function and should be computer
literate.
Technician III, Well Logging
Ref: GDC/HR/07/13/GRA/TWL
The Technician
will report to the Geologist.
Qualifications:
A National
Diploma in Analytical Chemistry or Earth Sciences (Credit & above) with at
least three (3) years’ experience in a busy laboratory (Analytical Chemistry)
and should be computer literate.
Graduate Trainees – Performance
Analysts
(Age 21-25 years)
Trainee Performance Analyst

The Trainee will
report to the Performance Analyst.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Statistics or Economics - (Upper 2nd Class Hons).
- Certification in SPSS or other statistical analysis tool, Project Management and/or Monitoring & Evaluation will be an added advantage.
- Strong Analytical skills and IT skills are required.
- Audit Risk & Compliance
Senior Internal Auditor, IT
Ref: GDC/HR/07/13/ARC/SIA
Reporting to
Chief Internal Auditor, key responsibilities will include; overseeing various
IT auditing and assurance work of prescribed scope and complexity in all GDC
regional stations.
You will be
expected to supervise the undertaking and reviewing of: audit of IT systems,
general and application of IT controls, security and risk management of
information systems, and monitor compliance with appropriate standards and best
practices.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Accounting, or its equivalent from a recognized institution (Upper 2nd Class Hons);
- Good understanding of IT systems auditing; membership to the Institute of Certified Public Accountants of ICPAK or Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA).
- Possess at least eight (8) years’ experience in undertaking risk management, control and governance processes auditing.
- A CISA certification is required and a relevant Master’s degree will be an added advantage.
Internal Auditor, IT
Ref: GDC/HR/07/13/ARC/IA
Reporting to
Senior Internal Auditor, (IT) key responsibilities will include; undertaking
various IT auditing and assurance work of prescribed scope and complexity.
The candidate
will also be responsible for IT risk assessment, preparing documents including
audit programs, developing, presenting
and finalizing audit reports and monitor compliance with appropriate standards
and best practices.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology (Upper 2nd Class Hons), Computer Science, or its equivalent from a recognized institution;
- good understanding of IT systems auditing;
- membership to the Institute of Certified Public Accountants (ICPAK) or Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA).
- Possess at least six (6) years’ experience in undertaking risk assessment, control and governance processes auditing.
- CISA certification is an added advantage.
Audit Assistant

Reporting to
Internal Auditor, key responsibilities will include; assist in carrying out of
independent auditing and internal control systems.
Qualifications:
- Certified Public Accountant of Kenya certificate (CPA II) or Certified Internal Auditor (CIA).
Supply Chain
Chief Officer, Supply Chain
Ref: GDC/HR/07/13/SC/COSC
Responsible to
the Manager, Supply Chain, the officer will oversee stores management function;
coordinate disposal of obsolete, surplus or scrap items and coordinate the
inspection and acceptance of goods, works or services.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree (Upper 2nd Class Hons) and Master’s Degree in Procurement or a related field;
- Diploma in Purchasing and Supply (CIPS Level 6 or any other) from recognized institution and Ten (10) years’ experience in supply chain management, five (5) of which must be in Stores Management.
- Competence in computerized procurement, knowledge of ERP-SAP and membership of KISM will be an added advantage.
Senior Officer, Supply Chain
Ref: GDC/HR/07/13/SC/SOSC
Reporting to the
Chief Officer, Supply Chain, the officer will oversee preparation of tender
documents, process orders, supervise the stores management function; coordinate
disposal of obsolete, surplus or scrap items and coordinate the inspection and
acceptance of goods, works or services.
Qualifications:
- Degree in a Business related field (Upper 2nd Class Hons);
- Diploma in Purchasing and Supply (CIPS Level 6 or any other) from recognized institution and eight (8) years’ experience in supply chain management, four (4) of which must be in Stores Management.
- Knowledge of ERP-SAP is an added advantage.
Officer III, Supply Chain
Ref: GDC/HR/07/13/SC/OSC
Reporting to the
Senior Officer, Supply Chain, the incumbent will be in-charge of Stores at the
rig site; maintain and track Stores inventory to ensure constant availability
of critical stock and maintain a comprehensive and efficient filing and
retrieval system.
Qualifications:
- Degree in a Business related field (Upper 2nd Class Hons);
- Diploma in Purchasing and Supply or Records Management and three (3) years’ experience in procurement records management OR a Higher National Diploma in Purchasing & Supply with six (6) years’ experience in Stores Management.
- Certification in Stores Management and knowledge of Material Management in ERP-SAP will be an added advantage.
