The Measurement,
Learning & Evaluation (MLE) Project for the Urban Reproductive Health
Initiative is funded by the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation to evaluate
urban family planning initiatives in four countries.
Position:
MLE - Project Manager
Key Responsibilities:

- Lead and oversee
all in-country research assignments and ensure compliance with local
ethics committee
- Participate in
development of survey tools, training manuals and pre-testing of the tools
- Conduct data
quality assessments to ensure the reliability of data collected and ensure
quality control measures are observed
- Responsible for
data management
- Monitor and
evaluate the impact within and across target countries
- Build country
and regional capacity by providing technical assistance to assist them
undertake rigorous monitoring & evaluation
- Facilitate
knowledge sharing, document and disseminate best practices.
- Expand the
knowledge base of and evidence on urban Reproductive Health programs
Qualification
and Experience
- Master’s degree
in relevant discipline (public health, social sciences or a related field)
- At least 7 years
relevant experience in monitoring and evaluation.
- Demonstrated
experience in data analysis (quantitative & qualitative skills)
- Ability to
design survey research including the development of research tools and
instruments
- Proficiency in
statistical applications (Excel, Stata or SPSS) and other software
packages
- Experience in
management and implementation of large-scale demographic field surveys
(household and health facility) required
- Experience
organizing training, especially in the field of survey research, preferred
- Supervisory
experience of field enumerators, required
- Excellent
written and oral communication skills, required
- Ability to work
independently and manage projects with minimal supervision, required
- Experience
working with GOK, preferred

The MLE Project (www.urbanreproductivehealth.org), through
lntraHealth, has an immediate opening for an MLE- Project Manager in
Kenya.
The MLE Project
Manager will oversee the field-based work of the MLE Project, liaise with the
in-country stakeholders and represent MLE at the country level.
S/he will work
closely with MLE senior management, the MLE Technical Officers and field-based
MLE partners and subcontractors in the implementation and oversight of the
rounds of surveys and data analysis.
The Project Manager
will be based in Nairobi and report to the Senior Technical Officer responsible
for Kenya at the Carolina Population Center, University of North Carolina at
Chapel Hill.
