Catholic Diocese of Lodwar in pursuit of its vision; ‘A community of God’s People united by the Holy Spirit, dedicating our lives to Christian Service to fight poverty and disadvantage’ has been a strong partner with Trocaire an Irish NGO for over 15 years and together have implemented a number of humanitarian, emergency and recovery programmes, as well as justice and peace in Turkana.

Diocese of Lodwar(DOL) – ASAL Resilient Programme (ARP) Loima Project is a DFID Trocaire funded project for three years, an intervention focusing on building livelihoods’ resilience among pastoralist and agro-pastoralist communities in Kalemunyang and Turkwell in Turkwell Division and Lokiriama, Lorengippi and Namoruputh in Loima Division (Loima District). 

Diocese of Lodwar seeks applications from qualified persons to fill the following positions:-

Project Coordinator.

Lodwar based with travel throughout Turkana County. Three year contract.

The Role Purpose

Reporting to the Development Coordinator, the successful candidate will lead the ARP – Loima project implementing team based within the Diocese of Lodwar and with the support of DFID Trocaire ARP Programme team, the 3 year workplan in its entirety to high professional standards and within agreed timeframe and budget.

Qualifications
  • Masters Degree in Development Studies/Social Sciences or its equivalent with at least two years working experience in Management level preferable with an NGO.
  • Fluent written and spoken English, Kiswahili and knowledge of Ng’aturkana would be an added advantage.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and oral.
Veterinary Officer.

Lodwar based with travel throughout Turkana County. Three year contract.

The Role Purpose

Reporting to Project Coordinator, the successful candidate will lead the livestock health component of the project. 

This will include the coordination and overall supervision of disease surveillance, vaccinations, operation of mobile health teams and agro-vet units.

Qualifications
  • BSc in Veterinary or its equivalent. Fluent written and spoken English, Kiswahili and knowledge of Ng’aturkana would be an added advantage.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and oral.
  • Dynamic and willing to take initiative.
Conflict and Social Auditing Capacity Building Officer.

Lodwar based with travel throughout Turkana County. Three year contract.

The Role Purpose

Reporting to the Project Coordinator, the Officer will lead the conflict and social auditing component of the project. 

This will include the coordination and delivery of capacity building at community level in conflict resolution mechanisms and social auditing.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor of Arts in Community Development, Anthropology/Socialogy or its equivalent.
  •  Fluent written and spoken English, Kiswahili and knowledge of Ng’aturkana would be an added advantage. 
  • Ability to work both independently and in a team.
Monitoring and Evaluation Officer.

Lodwar based with travel throughout Turkana County. Three year contract.

The Role Purpose

Reporting to the Project Coordinator, the successful candidate will be Monitoring and evaluating project activities for measurement of results and appropriate reporting.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor degree in Project Management and Development Studies.
  • At least 2 years relevant professional M&E experience and experience of working closely and in participation with local communities in the development and implementation of M&E systems.
  • Understanding of donor expectations and trends for M&E.
  • Experience producing timely, detailed, accurate and informative reports to meet organisational and donor requirements.
  • Demonstrated ability to transfer knowledge to diverse audiences through training, mentoring, and other formal and nonformal methods.
  • Participate actively in team and programme meetings.
Project Assistant 

(Media Liaison and Information Management).

Lodwar based with travel throughout Turkana County. Three year contract.

The Role Purpose

Reporting to the Project Coordinator, the incumbent will be developing a communication strategy, in conjunction with the Trocaire Policy Officer, for the project outlining key local and national audiences and developing key advocacy messages.

Qualifications
  • Diploma in Project Management/Business Management or Community Development from a recognized institution. 
  • Demonstrated two yearss working experience in similar field. 
  • Fluent written and spoken
  • English, Kiswahili and Ng’aturkana and excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and oral.
Drivers 

(2 posts), ARP-Loima Project and Turkana Trachoma Project. 

Lodwar based with travel throughout Turkana County. One year contract renewable.

The Role Purpose

Reporting to respective Project Coordinator(s) the successful candidates will offer reliable and courteous transportation services to the projects with safety a top priority; provide a communication link between staff and project beneficiaries within Turkana communities; operate and maintain assigned vehicle(s).

Qualifications
  • Completion of secondary education.
  • Possession of a clean and valid Kenyan driving license of classes B, C and E.
  • Possession of a valid Certificate of Good Conduct.
  • 5 years experience (3 years experience in Turkana County or similar environment).
  • Ability to communicate effectively orally in writing in Ng’aturkana, Kiswahili and English.
