Program Description: 

The Research Care and Training Program (RCTP), is a collaboration between Kenya Medical Research Institute (KEMRI), University of California, San Francisco (UCSF) and University of Washington (UW). 

RCTP operates the Family AIDS Care and Education Services (FACES) program, a comprehensive HIV prevention, care and treatment program. 

Due to its continued growth, the program is seeking motivated, pro-active individual to fill the following vacancy:

Finance Manager

Job Summary

Reporting to the Finance and Administration Manager, the position will:
  • Help in the formulation of financial policies and procedures
  • Develop project budgets and monitor expenditure against budget line items
  • Provide oversight and coordination by ensuring timely and accurate processing of financial transactions in line with organization’s SOP, donor guidelines, IAS and GAAP.
  • Timely preparation and submission of financial reports to the donors and the management.
  • Establish annual audit plan and oversee implementation of the findings/recommendations.
  • Attending to donor financial monitors.
  • Ensuring regular reconciliation of accounting records.
  • Setting of appropriate levels of field imprests for field activities and monitoring usage of the same
  • Review and approval of expenditure on a daily basis.
  • Overseeing day to day administration of grants to ensure compliance with award-specific requirements and laid down regulations.
The candidates will need to demonstrate strong attention to details, accuracy and organizational skills with ability to be flexible and work well under pressure in a multi-tasking environment.

Requirements
  • A Bachelor’s Degree in in Finance or Accounting.
  • CPA (K/Finalist)
  • Experience in SAGE, Quickbooksand the ERP system
  • A professional body membership
  • Good practical understanding of management of grants
  • Minimum of 8 years’ experience 3 of which must be in a supervisory position
  • Experience in managing a payroll system
  • Good oral and written communications skills.
  • Experience in managing US Government funding Agencies grants such as USAID, CDC and NIH.
  • Working experience in a non-profit making organization will be an added advantage
