Chief Operations Officer (COO)
Duty Station: Nairobi
ACDM is a media organization with a mission to promote use of media for community development in Africa through innovative and creative media programming , outreach and through building partnerships and networks to drive the said development. ACDM envisions a transformed free and prosperous Africa.
The Chief Operations Officer ( COO) shall direct, administer, and coordinate the internal operational activities of the Africa Community Development Media in accordance with policies, goals, and objectives established by the Chief Executive Officer and the Board of Directors.
(S)He shall lead and
direct the following functions and/or business units: Finance, operations,
human resources, information systems, media operations, business development ,
and agency promotion and communication.
(S)he will also be
expected to envision, plan, execute and implement board policies, while
providing leadership to her team in a professional, efficient and effective manner.
(S)He will work under
the direction of and report directly to the Chief Executive Officer.
Roles and Responsibilities:
1. Strategic and leadership roles.
- The COO will be
in Charge of the day to day efficient running of the business of the Organisation.
- Provide clear
and dynamic leadership to the team .
- In consultation
with the CEO and board, develop and formulate strategy, implement
organizational policy, direction , and systems.

Operation Roles
- In charge of all
resource mobilisation , budgets, investment strategies and sustainability
- Mobilise
resources to facilitate the implementation of the organisations’ business
plan
- Develop and
implement organizational operational structures, and systems
- Overall in
charge and overseeing the programs in the organization, program designing,
planning, implementation.
- Design and
implement media programs that will enable ACDM realise its goal, vision
and mission.
- Build
partnerships and networks with the community radios and other relevant
media in the country, region and world over that will facilitate the
dissemination of the content developed for the benefit of its primary and
secondary constituency.
- Building a
positive image of the organization among the collaborating /networking
partners and all other stakeholder.
- Enhancing the
organization’s networking and collaborative initiatives.
- Human Resource
management and other administrative roles.
- Overseeing Human
Resource management.
- Ensuring
Implementation and review of staff contracts and job description. .
- Overseeing the
performance evaluations of staff and their continuous development.

Financial Scope
- Overseer of all
organisational finances and resources.
- Ensuring that
budgets are met and that utilisation is within specific organisation and
partner financial guidelines
Academic
Qualifications
- Must have a
Bachelor’s degree in Commerce, Finance and or Strategic management or
other relevant area of study with proven experience in leadership,
management, and business development.
- Masters in
Business Administration (MBA) will be an absolute advantage.
- Professional
qualifications as a CPA (K) will be an additional advantage
- At least three
years of relevant working experience, preferably in media and or private
sector .
- Technical
training in project management and organizational development will be an
added advantage.
- Visionary, with
strong initiative and ability to work without supervision
- Good judgement,
tact, analytical and negotiation skills.
- Must be able to
work comfortably and effectively with people of different national and
cultural backgrounds and to establish and maintain constructive working
relations in multi –cultural environment.
