Tetra Tech ARD has an immediate opening for a Water Supply, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) Technical Advisor for the ongoing USAID-funded Planning for Resilience in East Africa through Policy, Adaptation, Research and Economic Development (PREPARED) program.
The overall goal of PREPARED is to strengthen the resiliency and
sustainability of East African economies, trans boundary freshwater ecosystems,
and communities.
The WASH Technical Advisor will be based in PREPARED’s Kisumu, Kenya office and require regional travel.
Responsibilities:
Lead WASH technical tasks in close collaboration with the Chief of Party (COP), PREPARED technical advisors, and institutional partners. Illustrative responsibilities include:

Lead WASH technical tasks in close collaboration with the Chief of Party (COP), PREPARED technical advisors, and institutional partners. Illustrative responsibilities include:
- Provide hands-on
technical assistance to increase access and sustainability of water supply
and sanitation services, as well as small-scale wastewater treatment in
small towns and peri-urban areas of the Lake Victoria Basin;
- Improve data
collection, management and dissemination on drinking water supply and
sanitation service access and sustainability throughout the region;
- Strengthen
capacity of local governments in EAC partner states and water and
sanitation service providers to provide decentralized services;
- Provide
technical support to harmonize and strengthen regulation and enforcement
requiring effluent treatment for municipalities and industries in the Lake
Victoria Basin;
- Support PREPARED
technical staff, subcontractors and institutional partners in conducting a
region-wide climate vulnerability assessment of drinking water supply and
sanitation services, as well as an analysis of broader water availability
and demand scenarios;
Minimum Qualifications:
- A minimum of a
Master’s degree in a relevant discipline or a Bachelor’s degree in a
relevant field with an additional 7 years of experience related to the
minimum requirements above in areas such as Engineering, Environmental
Science, Public Health, Urban and Regional Planning, Development Studies,
and/or Natural Resource Management;
- Minimum of 10
years of more work experience of practical, hands-on experience in WASH.
Previous experience working in East Africa strongly preferred;
- Demonstrated
success in implementing programs aimed at increasing access to water and
sanitation services, and/or small-scale wastewater treatment;
- Demonstrated
knowledge of the latest developments in advancing best practices in
sustainable and climate-ready water and sanitation services from source to
tap.
